Dead Content Eclipse [Full Game]

Dead content awaiting restoration.
Untitled-11.png

th_Title.png

Hello everyone. I'm here to present my work on RpgMaker VX to you.
It's a horror game that was inspired by Silent Hill.
Because of that the game name was going to be "Silent Hill: Eclipse"but in the end I decided to use only "Eclipse."
So, don't surprise if you found this game like Silent Hill because that's what I had intended it to be from the beginning.
If you like horror games, I hope you'll enjoy this.
and thank you to echorev for edit all my bad english stuff.

"His partner told him to shoot the criminal,
so he picked up the gun and took a shot...
...even though that event has passed, the echo of a gunshot still resounds in his mind."

After having a bad dream of a hostage incident, Officer Kelvin Bishop awakens to a dark morning.
The past still haunts him, but even so he has to get ready for work like every other day.
At the same time, but in a different place, Andrea Frost, an ordinary high school girl brings her friend to
the hospital with her sister.
Suddenly there is an eclipse, and everything starts to go wrong. While she is struggling to get back home,
Kelvin is struggling to get to the police station.
A grieving man and an innocent girl are now trapped in the same situation. Can this be just coincidence, or is
something more...? Something extraordinary.

Untitled-4.png

An ordinary high school girl who is going back home with her sister, Rebecca.
However, something weird happens and her sister goes missing.
When Andrea looks for Rebecca, something terrible starts to happen to her as well...
Something terrible that will change her life forever.

Other Character

Rebecca Frost [22]
Andrea's sister who goes missing.

Emma Meyers [15]
She is taken to the hospital by Andrea and Rebecca after she passes out.
She is Andrea's friend.

Sarah Bishop [28]
Kelvin's wife. She hardly speaks to Kelvin anymore, after the hostage incident.

Andy Bishop [7]
Kelvin's son. He was the hostage in the hostage situation.

-Character selection!
In Eclipse you can choose between 2 different protagonists, each with unique stories!

-Different events, different choices and endings!
Your actions and choices will determine certain events and endings!

-Complex story!
You will need to play both characters to unlock the entire story!

-Horror!
This game's atmosphere is entirely dark, save for the light of a single lantern. Be careful! Anything could be
lurking just beyond the next door...

- Shooting system!
You can equip weapons and attack oncoming enemies! But just make sure you don't miss!

Nice game hexagon

Please refrain from leaving empty posts like this. It contributes nothing to the thread and is practically spam. Thanks.

The game sounds okay, but the major turn-off for me is that English doesn't appear to be your native language, and the improper spelling/grammar that would come as a result of that happens to be one of my greatest peeves in gaming.

And the lantern light concept is a bit too constricting and overused in RPG Maker horror games, in my opinion.

Since it's a full game, though, I'll give it a shot anyway.

I'm sorry about grammar. I'm working on it
and thank you for play my game.

Good job again, Hexagon.

So the version that I've played is the grammar-edited version

(How lucky am I)

Yo, a number of Questions.

-The zombie things(Are they a zombie? ). Why do they have no head in Andrea's story?

-What are those noises in the hotel. A vomitting, A crying, A hammering. Are there any secret? They don't even disappear.

-How many endings it is?

Hello there ! and Thanks again, hee hee

About your answer

- Not a Zombie. They are the product from the ritual that made by The one with the dark robe... and They're totally different. in Kelvin part i name them as "Ghostchild".
They are reflection of kelvin's guilty about his son
that the reason why they're looklike children.

about Andrea part I name them "Headless"
They're reflection from Andrea's nightmare.

[When you play as Kelvin you won't see Headless and when you play as Andrea you won't face any Ghostchild Neither.]

-It's a horrible sound cause by the ritual and it's just SE there's no any secret about it.

- "Eclipse" have 3 different endings [ 2 bad endings and 1 good ending] which happen from the 2 event choise you have choose in the game [first one is when Kelvin meet Andrea and Second one is in the final scene.]

I found a game stopping error.

When you play as Andrea, and you get the two pickaxes to break the rocks that block your way, after you break them up, when you try and go through the cave door, there's no event that teleports you to the next map, so your stuck in the cave.

I started playing in each scenario, and while it's definitely well-made, there are a few things that were a bit odd to me.

First of all, the monsters. I know you took most of your ideas from Silent Hill 1 and 2 (so far, only got to Kelvin's first boss and Andrea running around the school a bit), but the game plays more like Silent Hill 5 with the monsters being unwarrantedly difficult. If I hit something, it should recoil, period. I shouldn't have to mash S a thousand times a minute hoping to get away with just one hit with the axe, and the handgun is not that much better. In fact, when I saved up all the ammo in the game, it was still less than what was required to kill that obnoxious first boss in Kelvin's stage. There must be some major collision detection issues at hand; I didn't even realize half the time I was "hit" by something. Also, about the timing of your own attacks, it felt strange that you could just mash the button at the speed of light (and pretty much had to), usually attacks have a time frame. Every once in a while, the S button would just freeze up for a couple of seconds as well.

As for the content, Kelvin's hotel exploration was pretty...empty. Night did fall, but it wasn't quite the "alternate hell world" that you might expect with how much you took from Silent Hill. A lot of the rooms in the hotel felt a bit empty, yes you put a different SH2 sound effect in each one, but nothing really happened in any of them. I heard Eddie puking, but there was nobody to be found. None of the bathrooms opened. You set up the scene in the school bathroom for the terrifying stall-door-opens-as-you-walk-out scene that's been a staple in the SH series, but nothing happened. A lot of the blood seemed completely meaningless, and while the effect of blood appearing on the bridges after you walk on them was interesting, Kelvin didn't really seem to care about anything he found. In fact, one of the main ways that you could really get into what the characters thought was that they would comment on everything, even just regular objects. In the hotel and school at least, there was no commentary on background objects; half the books were unreadable even when left open.

I also really didn't appreciate the cell with the enemy and the item in it. I'm glad there was a save point there so I could reset once I found out it was ammo.

Graphically, I think it worked really well, and you did a good job with the sound, even if a lot of them could have been better placed (the ones in the hotel rooms). I'd play more, but honestly I think saving every single piece of ammo in the game should be more than enough for a single boss.

Hey I started playing and even though I didn't get far (I'll some more later in the night) I have to comment.
First of all, I like the story it's interesting enough to keep me going and is true to Silent Hill style.
The interior mapping is okay but the exterior mapping was weird (like the road with the parallax)
There are some grammar errors that you might wanna fix like "The door is lock. I need a key"
Something that annoyed me A LOT is the typing sound in every message. Maybe it's just me but it really breaks my nerves.
Also some events that are meant to be part of the background but also able to interact with (example the hole on the 2nd floor of the hotel - right room) are set above the player's head.

I will keep on playing and comment some more once I finish it.

yeah it's a little problem there. but you can get through it
after you break the rock do not walk into the route yet
just stand where you are and turn the face of character to the route
and press "A" to interact you will get through it.
[the teleport event is at the rock and i forget to switch it to "same as character"
sorry about it ,but i'll fix this in the next version]

-About the shooting system and enemy
i use the PRABS script instead of use Event and i know a little about scripting
so, that is the best i can get

-About Atmosphere
This game is not have much er...hell dimension like SH
It get darker because of Eclipse + The Ritual and it's that all
[as you can see in the game it get darker once and not bright again untill eclipse is gone]

-About the Stuff
I hope i can put the detail in all stuf but as you can see my bad english skill
so, i decide to put it as necessary as i can.

Anyway, Thank you for playing and for comment
I will use it to develop my future work.

About the ammo. you can save it or spend it
consider it is an option for you to play this game.

Thank you leadbelly ! Have fun !

Beta testers are who you chose to play your game before you actually release it. They will tell you errors they find, spelling mistakes, anything that needs to be fixed before the game is released. It's a good idea to have them, so next time when you're making a new game, I would highly suggest that you have people beta test it before releasing it. =)

Thank you for knowledge Speedpaws.
I'll keep that in mind.

I have absolutely n idea how to beat the faceless girl.
I've used all my ammo on her, and wacked her with my axe about a 100 times. So I figured theres a special technique maybe of killing her or something. I tried to kill her when she was on the Apocalypse symbols on the floor to no avail. I'm really clueless on this one. Any advice?

Also, btw I love this game :) The atmosphere is creepy, and I love the way you've slowly rised tension.

Thank you! Deranous. I'm glad for what you experienced and enjoy from the game!

About your problem. maybe this little hint below can help you.

Well, if you really hit her with the axe for a 100 times.
I have to say you're the patience one and I really appreciate that.

belive it or not you can get rid of her without using the gun or the axe?
Hint is :
Notice the little black hexagram [Apocalypse symbols] on the floor around the room?
Maybe you want to stand on it and check it out.
after you can find and take care the 6 hexagram of it you'll know what i mean.

anyway if this hint not help you just let me know again.
