Dungeons: Critical Hit!

Inside the deep dungeon, the monsters wait, ready to unleash their attack.
It is up to you and your companions to enter the dungeon and fight for life.
Will you answer the call?

This is Dungeons: Critical Hit, which is an in-development expansion to the original Dungeons RPG Maker VX Game.

  • Features:
  • Robust Class System, with over 20 classes to chose and level up
  • Detailed Ability Mechanics, with fifteen to a class
  • Randomly Generated Maps, for added variety in your dungeon
  • Three Different Difficulties - Simple, Normal and Impossible
  • New Abilities - 200 Active Abilities, 80 Passive Abilities and 20 Auras
  • Two gameplay modes - Story Mode (WIP) and Classic Mode
  • A (Mostly) Original Soundtrack

Story:
Classic Mode doesn't have one. Story Mode, which is to be developed after the completion of Classic Mode, has the following:

Tragedy has been striking the small town of Cryll. Ever since a group of mysterious strangers moved into the village, people have been disappearing from their homes. A geologist on one of his expeditions discovers that these strangers are actually cultists of an old sect thought to have died out years ago. Believing that this cult is responsible for the killings ("ritual sacrifice", the geologist terms it), he convinces the local guard to put up bounties for any cultist captured dead or alive. Most members retreat into ancient places of worship and lock themselves off.

A month passed, and no progress has been made in the endeavor. The populace are either not convinced due to lack of evidence or motivated enough due to lack of reward to go fight the cultists. The bounty gets more lucrative; people are still disappearing. The geologist thinks to himself that he will try this bounty hunting after one last expedition. He goes off to Foggy Cave, where he finds a young boy collapsed on the ground after a fight with a monster. The geologist rescues the boy, who has come from miles away following a rumor of treasure, and gives him a home in Cryll. He convinces the boy to join him on his bounty hunting, and an adventure unfolds. Only a few questions plague the group:

Are the cultists really responsible for the disappearances?
And if not...who is?

Classes:

This looks like really cool if this is like that dungeon exploring game. It seems like you fleshed it out a lot and im curious to see where you are taking it. I like those icons, are those custom? Ill definitely check this out when i have the time.

Now getting extraction errors...

You serious?
Sigh..

I've heard of this type of thing happening before, but I've never been able to fix it. Try re-extracting it; generally it'll work after a few attempts. I'm downloading the file now on my computer to see if it's working here.

I've downloaded the file, it extracted fine for me. It must be an issue with your computer. Keep trying to extract it. PM me with your results.

New Release:
102.11 MB - http://www.mediafire.com/?lb92l6ci4xp0jhr

I've replaced the old class selection part at the beginning with a new one that actually makes more sense, based on the Actor Selection Script by Omegas7.

I've also added more variable levels of difficulty, up to a whopping ten from just three before, which are now able to be switched during the game in the main menu in case you're finding a boss too difficult to handle.

Does this have the same issue as the original where if you kill X creatures, random encounters stop?

I believe the limit in the original was 200 encounters.

I believe the limit in the original was 200 encounters.

Yeah, that problem is still there.
I can apply a patch fix to it where I just loop the most powerful monsters when you get to that level, though I intend to have more separate random encounters when I get to that point. My biggest concern right now is finishing up the rest of the classes.

New Release:
103.22 MB - PBR 4

With it comes the Minstrel class, a wonderful class that I spent quite a long time developing so that he would not turn into a 'spoony Bard'.

Also it now downloads with a shiny new Guide.xps, which should help alleviate any problems you have about not understanding something.

Cheers! Remember to provide feedback.
