Drawing to Try PS CS3

Very good, nice skills, ive never been good at anime stuff, im terrific drawing but just not anime, and u have the skills , Cool

I recently got Photoshop Cs3 as an upgrade from Cs2, and I'm loving the smart filters as well. Looks good though a bluish gradient for the background would have been better in my opinion.

Awesome Bro

The character is mediocre and the background is awful.

The text is absolutely hurrendous! Come on man, You can do better than this!

I'm not being tight here, Just realistic ... Most people who've replied here that posess CS3 have either:

1. Way too much money
2. Cracked it

Otherwise I see absolutely NO reason why you have invested $649 ($199 upgrade). In all honesty, There has been absolutely NO reason to upgrade photoshop since 7.0 (That has most things that people use photoshop for here anyway). You're just investing in a slightly different interface and tools you will hardly ever touch. The main reason people buy it is to keep up their metrosexuality tbh. It really pisses me off :-/

you do know I do pro photo editing, right?
I have to whip out like 100 pics a day, so it's pretty much given to me to work with. So my metrosexuality pretty much pays the bills. hell, if it works that way i like metrosexuality...bring it on.

No, no need to crack it from my side, and no, i don't have too much money...there's never too much money XD

also, thanks for bringing down my 20 mins of work +_+

The Smart selection tool saves me a lot of work when deleting Backgrounds, the Photoshop Actions streamline my work, and some of the actions I've made do not work on versions lesser than CS2, they save me a LOT of time.

Also, I like the flatness of the character, I love rough lines, and for once wanted a tacky BG. I'm extremely happy with the product because it's exactly what I wanted to make. I had the image in my mind and it came out just like I wanted, sure we can criticize a lot fo artists and their styles, but I could not be happier knowing I got what I wanted, especially in around 20 mins, no sketch to work with, etc. I'm happy, and I'm sorry you find it mediocre, but they're tastes. (note: the text IS horrible, by the time i was done i slapped it in :P )

but yeah, again taste... i'm not a fan of your pseudo-3d maps, but you wont hear me complain, since you like that style you work with. it's YOUR style, and if you can bring to life what you had in your head, well then, congratulations to you.

anyways, PS CS3 rocks my socks, especially when joined with lightroom ;)

I have to say "Nice Work" :) I understand what both you and stevo are saying though. I like it because it has that sketched yet "BANG! I am a poster, look at my colors, look at my design, just look at me!" kind of feel. I personally would have dropped the font and color for something that looked more sketched or more fractural... Maybe black & white or just and invert of the background colors would have worked better.

Improvements? Personally, your nose is too centered (what the hell Lei? Noses are center!) in anime or manga, only one side of the nose is drawn and thats the side with the shading (though sometimes the bring out the other side with light...), the shading needs to go to one side as the nose bone is rarely drawn in on a straight on. I beleive that the nose you drew needs to move left a bit.

Also, I think that although it would be obscured by hair, the other eye needs to have been drawn in.

Well done. I wish I had my graphics tablet back.

See, i'm not hoping to FOLLOW the rules of anime, I like some of their things, but I like experimenting with my own styles and methods. if I were to work like every other anime artist, then ni'd just have the copy of a style, I wanted something that was edgy while a bit tame, and that just screamed "ME" you know?
I didn't take care of any of the outlines because i liked their sketchiness, and the nose is one of my favorite experiments, i LOVED working on it, mainly because it's not seen a lot. I also avoided looking or thinking of any anime while working on this, just thought of what I wanted to try, what I wanted to do, etc.
I did draw the eye at first, but then decided I wanted to add that strand of hair and ended up getting rid of it, mainly because it looked a bit crazier that way, I felt better about it without the eye ;)

also, by the way, do not think Stevo and I were arguing about anything, we're cool ;)

The only thing that's bothering me is his nose. When I first looked at it, I was like: 'Where's the nose?' A few seconds later I figured where it was. Pretty silly, but because it's not really nose-shaped, it wasn't easy to find. Nonetheless, you made a great drawing. Seriously, I love the shading and highlights on his hair!

Tassadar: Yeah, I'm accustomed to drawing more visible noses, but for some reason, I kinda wanted to throw my previous usages of the style away... I tried a different method for the eys, the shading, the nose, etc. I liked not showing a nose, but simply hinting it, rather than having it be obvious.
I'm glad you liked the hair :]

bojo: lol thanks, we're all gay for that drawing, so its ok.

Lei: I drew you cuz you're just plain shexy ;)

The drawing itself is decent (why's he naked?, and I agree w/ Tass on the nose), but I hate hate hate Photoshop filters. They drive me nuts. They make people lazy.

I think perhaps people think distortional filters (ones that aren't used to "touch up" the picture, but rather add noise or morph it) make something look more "important" or "artistic" ... But to me, filters that distort are just causing a good picture or drawing to be just a bastardized version of their original beauty.

That's not to say filters aren't useful, in small amounts, but when I see more distortion than picture I say "pass".

Sorry :'/

I must agree and disagree with venetia, agree because i feel the same about filters, but in this case it gives like "art pop" comic like look, and if that's what he wants for his comilc like image its good, in most of cases it just makes a beautiful image a horrible image and i never use filters but in this case i think it looks pro, and for the nose, i take it as his style more than just a mere mistake. Keep the good work

*grins silently to self* she even got the nakedness right and everything (joke). So are you going to go on to comic art?

*randomly thinks* that would be good for a game. Where cut scenes are played out through a giant comic page. Pressing enter could move the comic to the next frame... or left and right could cycle through the frames... or are they called cells? Im not sure.

Anyways... carry on drawing me, but at least let me know when you're staring at me in the shower next time okay?
