Yeah thats right, to all you DBZ haters... here comes the mmorpg!

Its about 216 years after the manga ended (seems like the events of GT will be ignored) and a dark power has risenblablabla... who cares?! This will all be about PVP and searching for the Dragon ballz!

Story
Dragon Ball Online is set in Age 1000, exactly 216 years after Son Goku left the 28th Tenkaichi Budokai to train Uub in Age 784, in Dragon Ball Z. During this period time, a number of notable events have occurred, including the appearance of a Majin race, the arrival of what appear to be Yardratians in the Southern Galaxy, and most recently, a gulf forming in time. The Earth has also been divided into pieces by a villainous organization known as the Dark Eye, which is lead by a mysterious individual.

Seems like you start has a kid and will "grow up" has time goes by, you will be able to participate in the budokai tournament, and go on time travel quest with trunks to meet some of the original DBZ characters

Gameplay movie.

The graphics look phenomenal, which is one of the biggest things I love about the DBZ games. It's just so true to Dragon Ball Z. The TIME MACHINE QUESTS allow you to relive parts from the series, which looks like an amazing feature.

I'm going to want this shit so bad.

Well... Toriyamas style is perfect to be recreated in polygons... even in the early days of Tobal, the graphics where true to the character art (not 100% but close enough... for those days)

Its good that sayans arent available... almost everyone whould choose to be one in the game.
I`m hoping that they include the race "Android"
I cant wait to see how more DBZ features they include... like fusion or having to fight other players so they "drop" the Dragon ball they had... and so on

I wonder if you'll be able to fly in this game, and if it'll have classes to choose from, although it'd be different weapons as I can't imagine DB with Swords and Staffs ! (Exception of Trunks with sword)

I think I have seen some flying or levitation on the gamplay vids that are on Youtube, though it whould be funny to use the flying nimbus... as for the weapons... being a mmorpg its bound to have different weapons and items... even Gohan trained with a sword... when he was a kid and then with the Z sword

I was initially skeptical of this when I first heard about it a few months ago, but seeing that video has got me damned curious. I might actually, dare I say it, play this MMORPG and like it! I like how it follows the mnaga (apparantly) pretty faithfully, and the idea of a new Majin race is very very interesting.

Dragon Ball GT wasn't canon.  It was basically an add-on series because Z was so popular and people wanted more.  If you want to be a purist, everything past the Freiza saga never happened either and Goku died on Namek and Vegeta's fate on earth was left undetermined.  The only reason Toriyama continued was because, of course, huge demand.

Anyways, is this based on DBZ or the original Dragon Ball continuity?  I liked the original Dragon Ball but DBZ added that whole RARGH PLANET DESTROYER POWER shit that I hated so much.  Dragon Ball characters got increasingly powerful but no character reached the point where they exceled past, say, Superman levels of strength.  Goku could always lift cars and punch people far but he needed a cloud to fly, could transform in the moon, and could still be defeated by exceptional humans.  Dragon Ball was an actual adventure cartoon but DBZ was just shonen action wankery.

I'm all for an American release of this...

Hmm, on the screenshots I see some people are kids, others are adults, does this mean that you make a kid, and as you level up or something, your character grows ? so like a Lv1 is a kid, while a Lv20 might be an adult ?

You pick your stature when creating your character. Essentially you have the choice of being a Kid Goku/Goten size, or a teen Gohan size.

And considering how power isn't exclusive to your age in the DB universe, it really doesn't matter except aesthetic purposes.
