Found some neat remakes of some classics! Even if you haven't played the originals I'd recommend these. They've been recreated in a way that doesn't drastically change the dynamics or plots of the originals, but they offer better gameplay and usually, visuals.

AGD Interactive remade some of the classics from the Sierra adventure game line. Notably they've remade KQI and II, with 100% hand-painted graphics and point+click interface.

Infamous-Adventures remade King's Quest III, with carefully pixelled environments and a P+C interface too. I played through all of this and it's awesome. Avoid the voiceovers though, they're awful :x

leisure suit larry 2, arguably the best in the series, was remade in AGS, with 100% accurate original graphics, except now with some bugfixes and a much-needed P+C interface instead of the old type-action one of the original.

all of these were made in AGS ... If I knew more about coding I'd definitely use it instead of RMXP.

I would guess its Adventure Game Studio,

as AGM doesn't have scripting

If I knew more about coding I'd definitely use it instead of RMXP.
