Does Java Use Ruby?

I am curious if Java is based off of Ruby script? I am taking a class at my school that apparently teaches how to code java programs and am hoping it's based off of Ruby so that I can put it to use here.

Ruby is not based of java, Ruby is based of smalltalk and python. Ofcourse Knowing Java can help you grasp ruby a bit more

Is Ruby based off of Java or vise versa? No.
Will taking Java help you learn Ruby? Yes.

Taking Java(or any coding language, really) will teach you concepts that will apply to pretty much any programming language out there. An If command in language X does the same as an If command in language Y. The actual commands for things like these are a little different, but that shouldn't really be a problem.

I don't think I'm that great at anything when it comes to actually designing the game so I hope I can learn to script. I'd be way more of a help.

There are really only two types of programming you need to learn, Object Oriented and Standard. The language doesn't matter, because all it is is a language. I mean we all know how the read, write, and speak, maybe not all the same language but the concept is there.

Ruby is made of C but like Rpgmaker said, it is a copycat of Python and Smalltalk.
