ok first off i know i might get a bad rap for posting this but I DONT GIVE A FUCK SUCK ME i respect your opinions friends :D this thread is about one of the best the only japanese band worth listening to imo

the band has been around since 1999 and disbanded in 2005 BUT recently got back together last year and released some new tunes d (youve prolly heard them in inuyasha or whatever thats called)

the band consists of two members, tomiko van and ryo owatari (there used to be 3 but the other dude, dai nagao split)

im not particularly big on alot of japanese vocal music these days but the tomiko van's vocals make it hard to not like imo

anyways, give these a listen (you probably wont like, but oh well)

The first two sounded pretty standard to me, but Rakuen really caught my attention. I loved the rhythm and it felt like it was unique - not just another Japanese song. Either way, her voice is quite good, but the last one is the only I liked in this case. :P

Yeah, I was trying to find the trance stuff she did with cyber X but youtube got rid of it (its really cool)

As far as the songs are, yeah they are SUPER JPOP in most but her voice is what I like overall about the band.

Those three songs are formulaic corny little songs that sound like a parody of pop music. The verse chorus verse chorus formula can be forgiven if the song has at least one catchy hook to it. Taste in music is objective of course, but I personally find nothing remotely catchy here. Just boring.

Also, I get what you mean a tad, I was more interested in her voice. Yeah most of the music is very pop-ish and is mainstream but her voice is very deep and broad, and alot of japanese singers dont have that style.

Why? Honestly, I have absolutely no ability to decipher what is acceptable posting here. Like I said once before in another thread, its a total crapshoot for me. Is this post shitty? I dont know.

Perhaps my perception of this music is tainted by the very fact I used to watch anime and all of them had horrible theme songs. I hear a chick singing in japanese and its like flashback. Also, I am extremely critical about all music, not just j-pop. I think most music sucks.

I love Do As Infinity. <3 I don't listen to them much, but I saw them live at a-nation and they're great. In fact, they were the only good band at the festival.

Hopefully theyll come to the states (Tomiko Van talked about it at one point) but seeing as she's all over the place I doubt it was happen.
