Display variables via RGSS - Please help, I've been trying for months

Please help. I need to be able to draw variables on custom windows(for lots of purposes) and I can't solve it. If I use the draw_text command the game crashes saying "can't convert fixnum into string".

I really need this... please...

self.contents.draw_text(x, y, width, height, "Stat: #{n}")
or
self.contents.draw_text(x, y, width, height, 'Stat: ' + n.to_s)

Where 'n' is your variable.
