Disco lighting

im making a map in a game where ur at a place and the lights are like flashing all these different colors.

kinda like a disco thing or w/e.

How can i do this?

Warning: Overdoing this kind of effect could produce lag.

That said:

Depending on what kind of disco-like effect that you want, you could do this with some kind of custom fog.

As an alternative, you could have parallel process effects that are frequently changing the screen color tone, or even said events continually playing animations at a particular event's location.

Or you could go nuts and use all three techniques. I mean, hey, it's a disco-- why hold back?

but im using vx. and you cant use fog.
so what should i do?

and i tried putting a picture up and tintiing the picture. But it doesnt let me play while the tinting of the picture is being done.

edit:
Wooot nvm i did it!

No fogs in VX, either?

Dear Enterbrain: When you make a new version of your product with new, cool features, why do you keep removing the old features? (Hits head into a wall.)

I would not use Tint. It's slow. It even warns against overuse in the docs.

Create 3 pictures (primary colors), and use a randomizing algorithm to turn them on & off.
Each picture (Red, Yellow, Blue) should be mostly transparent. Depending on how combined, this will give you 8 colors. (Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Green, Magenta, White, Clear(no picture))

Be Well
