Dictatorial Communities

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this; but I have an example scenario and I'm wondering what you would do if it was happening to you:

Imagine you are living in a dictorial community, with one important person ruling over the country. You work for that person and find secret documents in which there is this big secret about that important ruler. The ruler sees you with the documents and tries to capture you with his guards but you escape. He puts a warrant out for your name for attempted murder on him. If you get captured you will be killed. If you flee into surrounding countries that important person will simply send whole squads of officers after you to kill you.

What do you do? :P

Apply for asylum/political protection in one of the other countries and speak to the leader(s) of said country about the issue.

Better yet, bargain with them. Perhaps you'll reveal the information if you're granted complete protection.

I dont imagine a smart leader would send squads after you once you're in another country. That'd be pretty foolish.

Well, they are at war with the surrounding countries. :x

If they're at war, there'd be no reason NOT to go to the other country. If they're at war, a couple refugees wont be what compells them to invade. Why wouldnt a country at war with them house refugees?

I was thinking that if they're at war the other country wouldn't accept refugees because they're, well, "enemies". XD
