Degony pre-beta mmorpg

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you all know that the game we've been working on for almost a year has been pushed live.

Degony is a free browser based mmorpg aiming for realistic gameplay, tactics oriented and a lot of fun.
The game is still in pre-beta, so there are a lot of things needed to be done.

Currently you can create a character, chat with people, navigate the map, make party, fight with creatures (PvE) and fight with other players (PvP).
Soon we will add other needed features like guilds, trading, NPCs, crafting, markets, etc.

Join us and let us know what you think.

I like this! Another MMORPG!

however, I guess no one is commenting is because you did not put enough info and no one likes to click on links...

so I suggest that you put screenshots on this thread!

Also, your website looks NEAT!

this could be a professional game one day!

:D

Hi Goody Two-Shoes,

I hope you like how the game looks like and most importantly the gameplay. More details about the gameplay can be found in the guide page: http://www.degony.com/guide.html

So this is kind of like Adventure Quest, but without the cartoony Flash graphics? At least from what I can see.

Seems like it would be a good game. I probably won't play it, as I'm not too big on these types of games, but from what I can see, a lot of time and effort has gone into this. You have a very nice website, that's for sure. My only complaint on that respect is that your navbar is on the bottom of the page. Kind of annoying to have to scroll down to change the page.

Well actually is not. In degony you can fight 6 vs 6, leveling is completely different than most mmorpgs, meaning that you level the skills you use even if it's PvE or PvP. For instance in WoW making PvP doesn't grant you xp because in that game you need to kill something to get xp or do a quest. In degony, every strike with your sword, even if you miss gives you xp. It resembles a bit with Dungeon Siege, where every hit increased your attributes. More details about leveling and PvP, PvE can be seen in the guide: http://www.degony.com/guide-leveling.html and http://www.degony.com/guide-pvp-pve.html

Basically in Degony, instead of killing boring creatures and do boring quests for xp, you will fight with players. Fighting with creatures in Degony is mostly for getting items and gold and not for xp.

I'm sorry you find it annoying. The thing is that the navigation bar is not that important. Everything you need to get in the game is on the home page, right in the middle. The nav bar at the bottom just has links to the forum, guide and legal pages. If you become an active member of the forum you will probably bookmark the forum website, while the other pages won't be accessed that often.

But you're assuming people want to just register and play your game right away.

About 90% of those who find your game on Google will not want to just register and play a game. They are going to want to see what the game is all about before deciding if they want to register or not. This is why you need to have a navbar at the top of the page, so that people can find your user guides, media links, and all relevant information.

And people are lazy. They aren't going to scroll around and look for it. That information needs to be right there front and center.

The contact page is right at the top (the fairy hovering) and the 3 screenshots and 3 artwork images appear on the flags on the left and right side of the website.

Yeah, I agree the guide page is quite at the bottom and also the home page. Probably I should make the top banner clickable so people can return to the home page and find a way to stick the guide link somewhere at the top.

Thanx for the suggestions :)
