Death Magnetic - Metallica

So anyone give this a try of the new Metallica CD? I barrowed it off my teacher and listened to it and i must say, im happy with Metallica. After Reliseing what a down fall St.Anger was and all old Metallica fans such as my self, were calling out for a more heavyer CD. What did Metallica do? They came with force and created Death Magnetic. A CD clocking in at 1:15:00 (1 hour 15 min). Not bad, making 7+ minute songs, shortest song is Broken, Beat & Scarred which is 6:25. The Longest is Suicide & Redemption 9:57 almost 10 minutes, the great part is that Suicide & Redemption is nothing but insturments...This CD is great, 1 major problem is James voice, it'll take some time for people to get use to as sometimes it sounds as hes singing like he did on the Black Album, but some guitar solos with no use of the wade petal saves it but it's still there, but its only 4 songs its really used...Best CD since And Justice For All, Welcome back to Metal Metallica!

P.S, as you all may know this CD was Relased 9/12

That Was Just Your Life (7:08)
The End Of The Line (7:52)
Broken, Beat & Scarred (6:25)
The Day That Never Comes (7:56)(Music Video)
All Nightmare Long (7:58)
Cyanide (6:39)
The Unforgiven III (7:46)
The Judas Kiss (8:01)
Suicide & Redemption (9:57)
My Apocalypse (5:01)

It's balls. They tried. I give them credit for atleast trying to sound decent. They failed. Horribly. It is mixed and mastered poorly the sounds of Lars, Kirk, and that bassist guy(lol) don't work well. It's noisy and sounds bad. James' voice is burnt out, he should never sing again...I have been a Metallica fan for several years, and honestly feel this was their last chance, and they blew it. They're old, they need to hang up the music and try and live the lives they never really got to do.

I personally think this album is awesome. I love the fact that the songs are long, like they used to be. I love the new way he sings. I love all the complex riffs. And I think the editing is awesome. No one element, be it any of the instruments or Het's voice, stands out too much over the others. This album is so good, it almost leads me to believe that they released St. Anger just so they could have an amazing comeback.

I don't understand why people always have a problem when Metallica changes it up a little. Even when they got their hair cut short, people got super pissed. Why can't Metallica go in the direction that they want to with their art without being bitched at? If you don't like the new albums, just listen to the older stuff. I like when they switch it up. I loved St. Anger, and I'm sure I'll love whatever they come out with in the future. There is a good reason that they are the second highest paid musical artist in the world (Prince is the first....WTF?!).

I think it sounds horrible. I was never really a fan to begin with, but when my friend got this album I was shocked.
They are much too old to be doing this.

The album was a damn good attempt, but I agree, the mastering was fucked. The actual music was great, a welcome change from St Anger (which I did, in fact, enjoy.)
