Okay, so basically Play.com have a 2 for £25 sale going on, and there's 3 games I want, but will only get 2 of them and pick up the other later down the line...

These are;

Darksiders
Dantes Inferno
Brutal Legend

Now, I've played the demo for Darksiders and found it really fun, LOVED the art style, and told myself I'd pick it up eventually, this could be it...

Dantes Inferno I also played the demo, thought it was a little meh, but that was because I was comparing it to God of War, but now I think of it, the rest of the game (Y'know, not the demo segment) could be fun, and the idea behind it is pretty interesting.

Brutal Legend, again I played the demo for this, loved the art style, thought the combat was clunky, and no jump seems like it'd get annoying, but I hear for how short the game is, the world and story are pretty cool, and I sort of REALLY wanna' try this "RTS" aspect of the game...

Sooo... I'm leaving the judgement up to HBMonsters HBGames

Shoot away!

Well I already know you're going to pick DarkSiders

I only played one of these games which is Dante's Inferno. I haven't beaten it yet, but I'd tell you to play it just simply cause the immersion into the depths of hell is rather exciting and scary at the same time. Almost feels like you're really fighting for great justice. Downside to Dante's Inferno is besides endless fighting and gameplay there's really not that much else. Artwork? Unlockables? Meh. I never played God of War so maybe I'm missing the loop.

I love it. You should definitely get it. Pity I use Xbox. It would have been fun thrashing you. The RTS part is rather fun. The best way to do it is to try the three armies and see which one is best for you.

Without spoilers can you tell me why these games were good/bad?

And length doesn't really bother me as long as they're over 6 hours long, anywhere around the 10 hour mark seems to be fine these days, anything over is a bonus.

I haven't played the others but Brutal Legend was a pretty fun blend of action/RTS with a bit of sandbox, and the entire game was a pretty hilarious equal parts parody and tribute of the metal genre. My big bro was a metalhead so I grew up listening to shit like that all the time, so it was all pretty funny to me. If you're at all into that stuff you'll be all OHMAHGAWD over the cameos and shit.

Stay away from Dante's Inferno... it didn't even TRY to be original. Shameless God of War rip off. Darksiders is fun as hell, and reminds me of a Zelda game. I can't say for Brutal Legend, as I haven't played it yet.

Okay so I've ordered which games I want, even though it didn't get the majority vote...

Darksiders + Brutal Legend.

I'll get Dantes Inferno when it's less than £10, probably get it used or something.

Err...Dante's Inferno was awesome. Albeit short, it provided a great atmosphere and gameplay. "Not original" you say? How can you possibly make a hack n slash game in 3d without having some god of war gameplay elements? If you read the book in high school like I did, it was an awesome game, and well worth a rent (if not a cheap buy).

well just don't go into Dante's Inferno expecting it to summarize the actual Divine Comedy at all ;x
Next up as a game: Goethe's Faust, where you play as a gun slingin' astronaut cowboy named Heiny who wants to know everything there is to know about killin' cattle-rustlin' aliens but then his trusty mule turns into the evil Phisto who makes a deal with him that Heiny will be the most badass astro-cowboy ever. But then Heiny dies and has to kill the 5 Angels of Kickassery so people'll remember him or something.

I have Brutal Legend at home and I keep meaning to play it b/c I'd heard it's very amusing. A coworker said he loved DarkSiders too, so hopefully you'll have fun :)

All three are short and not worth paying for in my opinion. I rented them and beat them before they were due back. Out of those three, I really only enjoyed Brutal Legend, because it has amazing dialogue and is fucking hilarious. The others are very mindless hack and slash, which is fun for a little. All of their stories are rather dry, but entertaining nonetheless.
