Dark Warrior

HBGames.org Community,

Here is the edited version of Dark Anime, now called Dark Warrior. There are two versions of this edit. A slightly dark skin tone and a light skin tone (as well as the clothes being light and dark).

LIGHT TONE

ORIGINAL VERSION
Going for a Anime style with a dark focus (dark not meaning evil). His leg still needs fixing, so will release update as soon as I can.

honestly, it isn;t exactly an anime look, however dark. There are aspects of anime, but you can find those everywhere. I would say that it is a general caricature with anime aspects, if that;s what you're going for, maybe not.

The sword however, reminds me completely of Cloud from FF7.
The left leg sorta disappears, and the right needs fixing, yup.
It;s pretty cool. However, anime is something that's a bit focused on the face- if you notice, non anime cartoon backgrounds, colors, and textures can all look anime-ish, but would still not really be considered anime, not counting stuff like if it';s made in japan or not. Anime can look pretty dark, realistic, and be considered anime- my personal belief is that the eyes and the way the face is drawn marks it as anime.
Other than that, cool drawing.

There seems to be a red light source to the left.
Looking at the head, it looks like the red light is coming from the right, you should be more consistent with your shading.
The shield shouldn't be affected by the light so much, as it's facing forward. Other parts should be affected, but don't: the sword, for example.

It also it not aligned correctly (currently fixing it), surprised that was not pointed out.

Yes I know, this has been mentioned. This was done on purpose due to how he stands. Making it as if his leg is directly behind his blade.

Yes I did not focus on the face, but when I was making it I had no real intention of making a Anime character. Perhaps Anime-ish is a better term for this character.

It's not lighting, just red for his clothes and his shield is not affected by the lighting either as it was made with the red and grayish color on purpose.

UPDATED

I finally got this one updated people:

1) Two different TONES (light and dark).
2) Lessened the amount of dark shade.
3) Added Shoes
4) Added a right leg (as you look at it)
5) A different sword design

Lol there's no need to be emo just because no one is commenting on your thread...

And hey, maybe I'd comment if I could see the pictures...

Ah that's better,

Well, can't really see much difference between the two exept the skin colour and shield.

However, I do think that the darker one looks better for some reason, and I like how you've changed the sword, since the other looked too similar to a certain emo who I won't be naming...

It might be style more than anything, but parts of the battler look too straight and bent (e.g. his right leg, his chest), and his clothes resemble metal pieces more than anything else. I know you're trying to exaggerate his pose, but the right leg extends/bends way too far to be a comfortable warrior pose.

I personally find the glints of light on the sword too much (just one at the tip would do, three is more than enough). Finally, due to the "design" on the shield it looks bent toward the player. I know you've commented that it's unrelated to the lighting, but I would fix it nonetheless, because designs are generally symmetrical as well.

hey this is some nice vectorwork here! i havent read the rest of the thread yet; what prog did you use? i could offer some pointers but they would be more useful if i knew the program you used (illustrator? flash? ps? a free prog of some sort?)

the shield in particular has some very nice perspective to it
what i see needing the most work in your newest version would be the shoes and hair. the shape of the frontmost shoe in particular is rather amorphous/blobby. even if a shoe is really fat/flat it needs to follow a general contour of the foot/toes. and the hair--mostly the longish piece in the back--throws off the perspective with its upward angle. the vector lines there also look a little on the sloppy side.

the sword and shield also need to cast a shadow on the pants.
