Damn my new computer!

Hey, peoples, my new laptop is being a... jerk.
I click on a file, only to have the search feature open, and when I right click, it has this menu opening:
Search...
Open...
Explore...
(other options under a little line)

and I either have to click explore or open for some reason. I want it to open the file when i click. what should i do???

A. I wouldnt rule out checking for viruses...

B. If you dont have a mouse attachment to that laptop of yours...  you might wanna get one.

C. Make sure you're not hitting the wrong key..

If it has Explore option it's because it's a directory, not a file.

Screenshot wouldn't help.
Look: Whan I click on a folder, it tries to search through it, and
it should explore/open it when it is clicked.

Screenshots are always helpful. When wouldn't they be?

Did you index your drive? You may have accidentally indexed it using Microsoft's extremely ghey "Desktop Search" function. That changes some commands. But it's hard for me to tell without seeing the prompt you're seeing, or what you're clicking on to get these options.

I don't even know what Operating System you're using x_x

I can tell you (with almost 99.9% surety) right now though, it's not a virus and it's not a "time to get a new computer" problem. It's most likely some extra component that either you installed, or was pre-installed.

I think I know what the problem is. When we click on a file or a folder a command is executed by default (folders is Open), maybe his configurations were changed and now whenever he clicks/doubleclicks a folder it executes the Search.

I have no idea on how to fix this.

IF its a programme , try re-installing it .
Els , if it opens a search menu .. (sounds dumb) Just look for it .
Well thats whats on if I have such problemes .

Sounds like you have Windows Vista's new search function.  If I recall, there is a setting for this.  Have you changed anything since first using it?
