Current favorite songs thread.

What songs have you been listening to a lot lately? This is more for stuff you've been into lately than all-time favorites, since I'm sure we could all list 50 great tracks. Links are encouraged!

I recently exchanged music recommendations with a friend of mine, and there are two songs I've been force-playing to death today.

Scissor Sisters - "Take Your Mama"
http://www.last.fm/music/Scissor+Sister ... +Your+Mama
Scissor Sisters is a crazy glam rock/pop/disco band that apparently is pretty popular outside of the US. This song is just really catchy! Unfortunately the rest of the album isn't quite as good. :(

dev/null - "society of defilement"
http://bb.xieke.com/files/07%20society% ... lement.mp3
dev/null is this crazy underground grind/noisecore guy, but his stuff is really layered and interesting and tends to have more of an overarching melody than you usually see in the genre. If you have good speakers, I suggest using them for this since there are a lot of subtleties you won't pick up otherwise. (My speakers are unfortunately shit, but my friend assures me these differences exist!)

....no, my taste in music isn't weird!

Artist - Unicorn Kid

id say chiptune dance-o-tronica lol, he's pretty good at what he does, theres a lot of those Uk gameboy dance beat kids these days, all pretty much sabrepulse copycats tho

anyway, ive been listening to a lot of mithotyn the last couple days

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0Ow7TeqdUU

lately.. been gettin more into the raw electronic music,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b94beDQQtWI&fmt=18 = dizzee rascal ft. armand van helden - Bonkers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lb5i2Q4eH9Y&fmt=18 = shameboy - heartcore
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJFgrdxue2Q&fmt=18 = Public Enemy Vs Benny Benassi - Bring The Noise

also, weird-ass happy music,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bfseWNmlds&fmt=18 = passion pit - Sleepyhead
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8yx4k4tzqE&fmt=18 = lemon jelly - nice weather for ducks

and of course generic happy music,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQBqlnfwEPU&fmt=18 = daniel merrieweather ft whale - change
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=au5JMhaBnv4&fmt=18 = Dave Matthews Band - Funny The Way It Is

and of course good piano/cello/classical pieces
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7BMM-M1Yyw&fmt=18 = Shira Kammen - Lullaby set (braid)
etc.

I listen to almost every genre of music..
though I have to be in the mood for some genres.

btw, becoolioman, that chiptune unicorn kid is pretty neat stuff too

i like you wyatt your cool

and also paint it black is still hittin the top of the charts on my playlist :toot:

The Jam - A Town Called Mallice is currently stuck at the top of my playlist and is pretty cool except it's also my alarm which makes it kinda... less good. But it's one of my faves anyway.

I can't stop listening to Flobots lately. I'm getting into more hip hop stuff.

Also been listening to Shinedown too. 45 is pretty flipping sweet.

Jason

Awesome Bro

Ooh someone else that likes Emarosa, lol, I prefer their older stuff, lol, and Armageddon is one of my fave. songs by 'em, along with Utah and Cascablanca, lol.

Hmm, I'm not really sure what my favourite song is at the moment, I'd say the songs that I listen to the most at this moment in time would be;

In Flames - My Sweet Shadow
Alexisonfire - Old Crows
Alexisonfire - The Northern
Killswitch Engage - Fuck it I'll just say their entire latest album, since I love every song on it, lol.

Actually now that I think about it, I love both the new Killswitch Engage album (named: Killswitch Engage) and Alexisonfire Album (named: Old Crows/Young Cardinals), lol. They ARE two of my favourite bands though, Killswitch Engage being my favourite ever, lol.

I got back into Rammstein earlier - ║nn║> (ÒÓ) <║nn║
much better than American Metal - no random screaming
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKt05MvqexM
the whistling, and the synth in this one is so cool
And "God knows I don't want to be an angel" is one hell of a line
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3T7Hfx7NmBI&feature=fvw
The refrain is pure ║nn║> (ÒÓ) <║nn║, the rest of it is worse, still good though
also, this song is so goddamn accurate to life
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPVtuPXIB3A&feature=related
Damn this one is so catchy, I actually memorized the lyrics...
The keyboard synth played in the intervals is fuck awesome ║nn║> (ÒÓ) <║nn║

I'm also obsessed about that one KSE song Jbrist put on the listening thread - Starting Over
The rest of their songs are generic metal - bleh

Since the earlier is harder-core than my usual indie rock/60s progressive rock,
I'm also mixing it up with some weaker stuff:
The Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9muzyOd4Lh8
This song is so goddamn beautiful
King Crimson - I Talk to the Wind
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9ghKS5UxmM
Again so goddamn beautiful ^^
Genesis - Your Own Special Way
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2dabKBigsk&feature=related
Genesis is great no matter what they sing, I don't understand people who say they're one of the worse bands of the 70s
Seal Kiss from a Rose
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WV5sc8xorU
Faster than the others, still very relaxing

And some weaker stuff from my regular like:
Van Halen - Right Now
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUyYENhbgJY
Van Halen - Why Can't This be Love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zfk89hBNO9g
The Cranberries - Linger
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXcjgXUADTg&feature=related
(meh Zombie is a hundred times better, I don't see what people see in this, but whatever)

Oh, and this fucking awesome dude named Steve Vai my pal showed me
Tender Surrender
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw74sDWPH7U
Bad Horsie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5BrE1Pi5cU
Seriously Alien Love Secrets is one hell of an album

(lol I'm not even going to go into my all time favorites)

K-OS - Dirty Water
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4od9G0CsKwE
this's been on my list for a long time now, along with a lot of K-OS' other stuff. his new album has a couple good ones too, but his classics kind of outdo them imo.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4db3jpN_U4
very solid song, one of the Peppers' best imo. on top of that, it's got some good nostalgia riding on top of it. the live version's kind of weak in places compared to the album version -- sorry.

Franz Ferdinand - Ulysses
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31sZ9xZr_Ew
I'm kind of on and off with Franz Ferdinand -- I was really obsessed with them a couple years back, but I really haven't been feelin them that much since then. this is a fairly new one, and it's no Take Me Out, but it's solid enough. one thing I always liked about Franz Ferdinand is how well their shit attaches to your personal experiences. their first couple of albums were the fucking soundtrack to my life those couple years back.

K-OS - Black Ice - Hymn for Disco
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVXbE1-3Fwo
yeah, another K-OS. this one is just for the chorus line. it's warm as fuck and I really can't get enough of it.

Phoenix - 1901
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4MXFOMpVIw
I just heard of Phoenix a little while ago, and I really like their style. this song always makes me a little sad. I don't know why, exactly.

Metric - Dead Disco
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBd2tAlCJdk
I like cynical songs. this one's simple, but I like the singer and it's got a nice tune to it.

TV on the Radio - Shout Me Out
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzDhzdsbM0g
this's another one with some good nostalgia on it, even though I've only been listening to TVotR for a little while now. I just like this one through and through. no real reason why. it's just solid all around.

Metric - Gimme Sympathy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9lkF8_SZkM
stark contrast to the other Metric song I linked. this is my favourite recording of it -- the live version they recorded over at X's studio when they stopped through town. the album version is a little more rock, but the live acoustic is just very sweet.
