create and sell your creations

Yes, if you legally purchase an RPG Maker program, you can use the games created with the software commercially. In addition, you can use the resources included with the programs inside your games made with an RPG Maker Program Only without any additional charge.

If you're really serious about making money off of this, then you've got a LOT of work ahead of you. That doesn't mean it isn't a great idea! A lot of commercial games will require all original graphics, original music, original sprites, and tilesets, and one HELL of a damn good storyline. Unless you've got other plans, I wouldn't suggest trying to go TOO big with this.

I like to think of RMXP/VX as a base. Just a really nice and easy to use program to lay down ideas that I'd like to one day actually write into a commercial game, be it 3d or even MMO one day.

I'd suggest getting a really great game, even if you don't use custom graphics, burn 20 discs of it with an installer or however you'd like to go about doing that, and sell them for $5 a pop at your school, or just anywhere. Keep it cheap and you'll sell them like hotcakes. (I don't really like that expression.... but whatever.)

Good luck to you. And I'm glad to see a new game maker in the making.

The intro for RMXP says you can. But as long as the resources are yours, your good. If not, talk with the people you got the resources from. If you are putting them on disks and selling them at school (Like I might do) for cheap like Mikee said, you might make some nice bucks!

It's a great idea. I wish I knew about this program, or at least RM2K when I was in highschool. I graduated two years ago and while I was in school I was programming MUD's with a friend. This would have saved two years worth of work that never really even worked. lol Good luck to you.

Pretty, not. But if your games sells like hell, Enterbrain may check if they ever got money from you, and if it isn't, you didn't buy a license. However, there is also an illegal version of RPG Maker Xp, named Postality Knights, and if you make a screenshot of the event editor you can see it as the PK version uses <> before an event comand, while the legal version uses @>.

However, I wish you good luck with making your own game and as DeM0nFiRe and Mikee said.

My friend used his trial and then found a hack file on the web somewhere. He swears that if he ever actually finishes or even considers selling a game at all then he'd buy the actual key..... We'll see about that though. lol

I bought VX only two days into the trial. I just loved it that much.

I wouldn't suggest using the illegal version, or using a hack. Especially if you ever plan to finish a game. You can buy an X360 game for $60, play it for maybe 8 hours and then it's done. Or you could spend that $60 on RMXP/VX and use it forever and make thousands of amazing unique games.
