Crazy Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tube-Man INSIDE! Update 3.

EDIT: Update 2.
Good thing this is only an experiment.  I'll probably move on to the next experiment soon.  The latest version which I like to call, "Balancing Problems".

Did a bit more with her.  Haven't messed with the head yet and will probably change the arm with the sword (which is unfinshed anyways).

-OLD-
Before I start majorly spriting my game I've got to find a style (I just found out Majorly isn't a real word).  First is character style which could be interwoven with any other characters or creatures since I want the battle sprites to be the same or darned close to the world sprites.  Second would be world style with tilesets and the like.  3rd would be making the two styles fit with eachother.  :P

First here's my Pre-Alpha WIP of a character, not a main character or anything.  Give comments please.  C&C and if you can help it try and say stuff more specific then "THAT SUCKS" or "THAT'S GREAT", etc.

I tried to sway from the Chibi thing.  Already I think I'd want a cleaner look.  Also the movement's only in her legs because I've just plain not gone further yet.
If you're wonder what she's holding in her hand it's based off a design of a gun I made for her.  Hard to make it look the part when it's so small.

What is pre-Alpha? I like the sprite a lot. I do see something that you could improve, though. You know how he knees bend and that's it? Try and make other parts of her body move to compensate.

Yeah I know.  The finished sprite would have more even movement.  I'm just taking care of one part of the animation at a time.  :P

Next is body/head.

I think Alpha is kind of like Beta, and Pre is short for Previous. Meaning its Previous Beta?

The sprite looks nice. The weapon she is holding does look quite like the large weapon picture. But I bet it'll look better when you make the thing move more than it is now. :D

as stated before, the top is too static, but I guess that this post:

is stating that you're going to animate the head/body now.
Anyway I really like the looks of the sprite, imo it's one of the better ones out here. One thing though, I'm not sure if the weapon in her hand is supposed to look "exactly" like the design. If it is then I suggest you shrink down on the grey part a bit, it seems like a rather big area in the sprite.

P.S. If I have my game, for example, almost finished but it needs testing, than I would put it in a so called "Beta" stage. If you put your game into an Alpha stage you're even before the Beta, so the game will contain lots of bugs and unfinished content. What Harvest meant with "pre-Alpha" is that it's just a sort of preview of how it looks like (and so he can get out errors as soon as possible, if there were any related to anatomy (spelling?) or such.

Alpha is the stage before Beta, it's like the simplest build of a game.  This is basically before he's even started his game.

I like that style, plus though only the legs are animated it's a very smooth looking animation. I think what I like most about your sprite though its size its nicely detailed and I don't see any simplified anatomy. All the anatomy is easily picked out, which I think is quite a feat on a sprite that small.

...it would look cooler, but the knees move to fast....same with the arms...
try not moving them to much....

EDIT: yes you did go overbored..lol... jk...no not overbored....just overfast...

lol.... 40fps is default on RMXP and 60 on VX

also it looks like you have taken peoples advice on moving the rest of the body. but i fear you may have gone to far. try to limit the range a movment a little more and it should be great.

Isn't it 20fps on XP?

I completely agree with you second point. Most people don't do squats when they are idle. I think slow it down, make it less movement, not as far move as she does now, and it would be perfect.

You've got to admit: that gun isn't very functional. Where is the clip/energy repository? Where do the bullet casings and/or electrical discharges emit? All I can see is a grip, a trigger, cooling vents and the muzzle.

That brighter blue thing on the bottom is where you would reload.  As for casings/discharge, that's a thing of the past ;P and this game would take place in a futuristic world.
But I don't really know anything about guns anyways.

Updated the first post.

This time for some reason she can't keep her balance.  In my next experiment I'm going to not overdo the movement.  I seem to suck at poses.
