Compressing my Game: Something went wrong?

Ok so everything was doing great when I started on my new project, for a couple weeks, and now, Ive recently added a new map, in order to start making things a bit longer and more interesting, to the stuff that I have set up in the begginning of where the player starts.

However, once I made this new addition, I thought it'd be o.k, and idk if this is the issue, but I copied the map, pasted it under a different map(on the left side, as a submap), and then deleted the old map of the same thing.

Now, when I extract compress the game, it takes forever, its suddenly doubled in size (up to 130 megs) when I deleted resources, I didnt add them, also, when others try to extract it, since I like to have second opinion, it takes a millenia to extract, or never does, since it wasnt successful nd we aborted it after a long while.
Note:
It took MUCH longer, if not double to triple the time, when extracting these last times, before aborting, than it took to compress.
Many times, it reches the end, where its extracting the .exe file, and it stays there.

Does anyone know what the issue could be?

On that note, I'd also like to know how to make my game size smaller, its not actually very big yet, it shouldnt be over like 10 megs or less, I would think, after seeing other games.

Thanks for your patience with me on this one, everyone, I'm very new to RPG Maker.

The biggest two things that will rack up space in your project are, MP3's and tilesets. These two things will add up to create 70-80% or you project file size. Tilesets you just can't do anything about. MP3's however, you can. Personally, I'd get a sound file converter and convert them to OGG files. These files play like an MP3 soundwise but take up 1/3-1/4 the space. MIDI files work, but their sound quality is really low if it was originally a MP3 file.

As for your problem. I'd suggest making a new project folder and copying all of the files in the data folder over. This would be all of your scripts, database stuff, maps, ect. Once you do that, compress that game data and try to reextract it. If it works better just start using that project folder. Sometimes your folder will just end up screwing up and moving to a new one can sometimes fix it.

Hope this helps!

Another problem you may run into based on your description is a missing "Start Point". If you delete the map where the player starts, you need to redefine the starting position on another map, or you will get an error.  Assuming you get to the point where the game extracts & you can play / test it.

Be Well

Im using mp3's, but, oddly, the file size of my entire project is about 35 megs, however, when I compress it, it turns out to be more, luike up to 60 megs these past few times, any ideas why?

EDIT:

Also, I was able to fix the issue, somehow I had save files from tests in ranndomn folders and I had a compressed project already inside of the project folder itself, explaining the sudden jump in size, I deleted these and it fixed the issue of not being able to extracrt it.

However, I would still like to make the main size smaller, i'll try to convert my mp3's to midi before I finish it up and upload it. =]

Thanks for everyone's support, I didnt really expect to get responses. ^_^
