Commerce High

Commerce High by UnsEEn_nInjA

A game (of yet undetermined length) based on the High School experiences of myself and my friends. Told from the viewpoint of a fictional character who moved to Commerce the summer before High School started, it will be a very plot-heavy game, and more event- than battle-based.
  • Story Synopsys:
It's the last day of middle school, and you've finally been goaded into a fight with the school bully. You manage to send him running, but the faculty blames you for the incident, so they plan to punish you when you return from Summer Vacation. Rather than put up with this injustice, your parents decide to move you to the next town over, but what will life be like there?
  • Characters:
    • Protagonists:
      • ?????:
The main character. No default name or actions, this character is meant to be played however you see fit.

      • James:
A slacker and friend of the main character. This is the guy that everybody gets along with.

      • C.J.:
Another slacker, and a friend of James.

      • ...yeah, basically the cast is a bunch of slackers (with a few exceptions). Each has his/her own personality, but considering as these are based on actual people, I can't simplify it reasonably.
    • Antagonists:Mrs. MillerAssistant principal and power-hungry bitch, she detests slackers and goes out of her way to make them miserable.
    • Sub characters:A full array of students and teachers, with protagonists and antagonists in both categories.
  • Features:
    • Features RPG's Custom Battle System (Cybersam edit)
    • Features event based character growth.
    • much more to come, still in fetal stages.
  • Screenshots:
Yeah, it's still in its fetal stages. I have a few maps, but no good character sprites (will be recruiting once I post this
  • Script and Credits/Team:

Much script editing will be needed, to produce this game to my satisfaction, and, honestly, I'll end up doing most of it. Spriting and art, I'll probably have to outsource, but writing/scripting/mapping I can handle.

I have no clue why, but I think I'd actually like something like this assuming that it isn't some high school drama scene. What exactly are you using for tilesets and have you decided on a style for the character sprites yet?

wtf!?!? This sounds alot like Plantation High, a old high school I went to but since you live in Texas, its not possible.

Slackers XD. I don't know you are going to pull this off since a teen life on game would be kind of boring but something new i suppose. I guess we would just wait for a demo or something.

You know what would help you, Near Fantasticas Personality Engine. I don't have it but you can ask for it in RGSS support. It's a system similar to Fable.

Good luck. Show some screens soon.

I'm thinking of a zelda view for the tilesets (circa LttP), which probably means I'll have to make them myself. Sprites, within reason, I'll leave up to whoever makes them. Give them some artistic lisence, to let them work to their fullest.

Idunn Yamildor? Sorry, don't catch the reference.

I'll have to look into that. Speaking of... I forgot to try to recruit my spriter yesterday. Guess I'll go do that now, too.

EDIT:
I forgot to mention... While there will be fighting, monotonous tasks and the like, the overall feel I'm going for is more like Harvest Moon, but with the theme more on relationships (not just romantic) than on hard work.

Also, I'm planning on making this into four games, one for each year, because that makes it easier on me and makes for smaller game files. I plan to advance the plot day-by-day, though, so that's... what, 180 days of plot per game anyway.

One more thing, I will be a character, but none of you will ever know which one (unless you're a student of psychiatry)

Alright, last thing this time, I promise. I'm considering basing this fictional character on my spriter (even if that makes for a female lead, which I was leaning toward anyway), so she'll have more depth, though still leaving a lot of play room for the player (somewhere between FF7 and Fable, though that leaves a lot of room). This also works out, because I'm not really adding a character with the main person, just a viewpoint (essentially an extra), and that would diminish the attitude of the spriter as seen from the player (tell me if that makes any sense). This may kill off the whole no default name thing, though. Still remains to be seen.

Please sir, will there be guns? :)

Sorry, based on fact. Maybe in a dream sequence or something. There'll be a few of those, just because I hated school and escaped by any means available.

Hmm... that gives me an idea. How about I just make the whole game long boring and pointless, just to better emulate the high school experience? On second thought, scratch that. I'm out to tell a story, and, seeing as the audience is free to wander off at any time, I've kinda got to keep them interested.

But yeah, it's based on fact, so there'll be no guns in fact, though there will be a few knives, history books, and various other weapons people actually used at my school (such as exploding yogurt, but that only happened once, and they never connected me with it).
