CHRONOS 1: Wings of Time

STORYLINE:
You are a simple boy living in Ido Village on the continent of Timex. One fine day, a mysterious man comes to the village and stops the flow of time in there. However, you mysteriously appear in a place known as Time Temple where the three Guardians of the world tell you of your role as the Gatekeeper, the one who has to regulate the time flow in the world. After awakening, you find yourself 5000 years in the future with your village destroyed. In order to restore everything back to normal, you must travel to the mountains far North to gain the power of 'Timeburner' which will allow you to 'Burn' and 'Rip' time. (like a CD) However, things get complicated when your friends and family from the past appear once again in the future and the man who stopped the time in your home is still alive after five millenia.

CHARACTERS:

The Main Character:
You, the Gatekeeper, who has been chosen to stop the distortion in time in the world.

Vin:
Van's brother. Saved Ido Village from a disaster you know little about. Anything else about him is unknown and Van doesn't know all the details.

Russell:
An evil person who calls himself a Timegrasper, a person seeking total control and dominion over time. He stopped the time in your home village. 5000 years in the future, he wages a war over the continent to take control of the four places which are connected to time.

One of the Aces of Russell's army. Nearly killed Van in the past and kidnapped Ashley in the future. Who is he really and what is his motive of following Russell?

I'm having exams over the next few weeks so I'll be extremely busy and unable to work on the game so you'll probably only have the demo in about June.
This is the first game I've ever made so it might not be very good...:(

The storyline will become EXTREMELY SCREWED UP AND HARD TO UNDERSTAND as the game continues. So I'll probably make a sequel if people want it. :) Gotta finish this one first though, haha...
 
The story looks quite interesting. I don't think that the story eventually becoming extremely screwed up and hard to understand is a good thing though. However, ignoring the promise you made and instead focusing on the story summary, it does seem to have about the right amount of mystery and intrigue.

Mining and fishing systems usually mean you just walk up to a spot and press C or Enter then you get an item. If there's more depth to it I'd like to hear about it.

You characters have very lacking description. Don't they really have anything going for them except being the hero's childhood friends? The description for the Black Knight seems a bit off as well. Have we been given any reason to suspect anything else than the Black Knight just being a powerful man who threw his loot with Russell for money/power/whatever? Why would we wonder who he is? Other than the fact that you wrote those questions in the character description, that is.

On the other hand, why is a barmaid an "Ace"? It looks to me like she's the one deserving the "who?" and "what motive?" questions. If she just wants money and power and yet have enough skill to be useful for a man who can manipulate time, she should have quit a long time ago and used her skills for something that earns her more money instead.

The mapping needs improvement. You have done what is probably the most common mistake, you made rooms way to big and empty. Check out your own house and you should see that people usually don't have a massive amount of empty space. I also spot some misuses of the tilesets. Why is there a crapload of water in the first screenshot? Why does trees grow on planks in the second screenshot? Also, why is the world map so square? Take a look at some mapping tutorials.

Can you put the wallpaper into a spoiler as well?

All in all, you do seem to have a fun idea for a game. There are some issues that you need to fix though.
 
To Crystalgate:
Well, I don't want to give away too much information in my character descriptions.
I'd rather let players find out everything themselves when they play the game.

And about the tilesets: well, I like making weird games.

About the mining/fishing system: You need to hav a rod/pickaxe equipped, depending on wat rod/pickaxe ders different chance of it breaking and depending on the ore ur mining ders different chance of getting it

its called bad mapping and the exuse, I like making weird games is crap. Listen, what I would do is read up on some mapping tutorials. (YAY mapping tutorials). One thing that turns people off is horrible mapping.

Your story has potential, but the quote

No one likes a story they can't understand. What people do like though is a deep, entertaining storyline. (with lots of DRAMA) <- maybe :P


The anime characters... well, its more original than half the project i see. The only problem is that the anime characters should match the character sprites and the character personality. If they dont, dont use them. It stupid to have a emo-depressing character matched up with a "provocative" happy anime girl. It just shows laziness, not originality.

Hmm looks okay, i dont like the name, it sounds too much like chrono trigger. Your subtitle is even the wings of time which is the name of the epoch in chrono trigger.
But story sounds cool, mapping needs work, not a fan of the RTP also.
But if this is your first game i wish you luck.
 
As people said, you NEED to work on your mapping.

Other than that, your storyline seems interesting and has room for plot twists that would keep me playing.
Your Characters however are not described to well. It is alright if you don't want to tell us everything in here, butat least tell us something. One or two characteristics wouldn't hurt.

On something different: You list VX Animations as a feature of your game. This doesn't qualify as a feature and it isn't even allowed to use them in XP.
