CHROMA

A Colorful Platform Adventure

Description
So, I've been a member of this forums mainly as a lurker for a few years, but this is my first project. It's NOT an RPG, in fact, it's not even made with RPG Maker (Which is OK now right?).

It's a platformer, and I view as sort of puzzle platformer thing like Braid, although it's not very puzzly at the moment. The basic idea is that a level is composed of objects three colors, your character can only interact with objects of the same color, and you can change your color at any time. You want to avoid anything with eyes, as those will kill you.

There are more specific control instructions in the readme, which you should, y'know, read.

The forum rules claim you need a story, but there isn't one. I might figure out something later, but this is a pure gameplay project at the moment. I hope you let me slide this time. :)

Hmm try this: make the background black and add lazer rays and techno music :) If you do i'll play the demo :)
I mean, who wouldnt? MAke it psychedelic the graphics, and then you can smoke a joint to it. Even though I dont smoke it's a saying.

I tried out your game.

One of the things that I like about this is it's simplicity, yet there are so many opportunities to make it a deep and rich game while keeping it fun. If you can manage that then you've got a fun and great game on your hands. What I played was good but seemed to me as if there could've been more done with it, if you know what I mean. Like, there's all sorts of things you could do with colours-beams that shoot colour over long distances, having colours rapidly change, etc. There are hundreds of possibilities. Go nuts! :)

Also, the blocks of colour are "messy", if you know what I mean-pixels here and there sticking out where they shouldn't. It makes it seem very rough. Try cleaning up the graphics a little.

What I'm seeing with the screenshots though is a tad mundane. The game is based on the idea of interacting with colours, but the screenshots so far look fairly colour-less. Spice it up more! Get rid of the massive white spaces, they're really bringing the quality down. The same can be said for the colour blocks-seeing nothing but solid blocks of colour can get boring pretty quickly. Although I suppose the important thing is gameplay, and you seem like you know what you're doing with that, so kudos to you!

I did like the demo though, although a bit confusing at times. Takes a bit to get used to. I think you could really go far with the graphics, but seeing as this is your first game it might be best to keep the fancy-schmancy stuff for later. This is a cool concept and I'm surprised there haven't been more comments-keep it up!
