Setting

The game is set primarily in the Kingdom of Kasav which spans over many different terrains including swamps, mountains, deserts and forests. The main story will take place here, although there will be other areas that can be explored.

The story begins when Markus [You name the main character, Markus is his default name] awakens in a strangers bed and cannot remember anything of his past except his name and his position as a Chaos Knight. It is clear that in the past Markus must have been an ally of the demons and a bad person. However without his memories Markus only wants to set right whatever he has forgotten. Will he still think the same when his memories return?

Note: You'll probably notice a few Final Fantasy references in the game lol

Age: In his twenties, exact age forgotten.
Class: Chaos Knight
Techs: Chaos, Swordplay
Bio: Markus has forgotten his past as a Chaos Knight and in his current state cannot even fathom committing an evil act. Fearing what he may of done in his past he seeks his memories to redeem himself.

Name: Jacob
Age: 47
Class: Dragoon
Techs: Lancet
Bio: Jacob is a veteran member of the Mercenary group named 'The Iron Wolves'. He has the previous leaders best friend and acts as a father figure for the current leader Leira. Jacob often likes to joke around and has a soft touch for youth, one of the reasons he is trying to help Markus.

Name: Ralph
Age: 15
Class: Healer
Techs: White Magic
Bio: Ralph was the newest member of the Mercenary group till Markus arrived. Usually they only allow experienced fighters into the Iron Wolves however Healers are a great asset. Ralph is very cheerful and gets over excited easily, however when faced with danger rather than get fearful he becomes dark minded and cheers on the deaths of the Iron Wolves enemies.

Name: Leira
Age: 23
Class: Knight
Techs: Swordplay
Bio: Leira has led the Iron Wolves since her father died five years ago. Trained by the man himself, her sword skills are impressive. Her diligence, courage, patience and wisdom are beyond her years and make her a great leader.

Downloading the demo right now. Would you still care for a critique of it once I'm done, despite it being dated? I mean, I'd hate to point out a dozen or so problems/flaws if they're things you've already changed.
 
I haven't made any big changes to the start of the game, so any criticisms are fine.

A lot of features I haven't added yet though. This was very much a "SEE I told you I was working!" demo XD

But yea, dialogue and such hasn't changed.

Before I continue further with mapping and eventing the story I think it's about time I start actually getting the under lining features sorted out!

First off I want to get the weapon and armour upgrade system done. I'm going to link to a badly mocked up image right now so I can talk you through it. I'm looking for ideas or criticism, or if you think it's good how it is, that's good too! Like I said this is heavily mocked up, nothing like how it will look when I've made it properly but it will do for an explanation!

Clicked it? Now I'll talk you through what you're looking at.


Weapon and Armour Upgrade Menu

- Top left is the characters name, by selecting the name you can cycle through the current party members.

- Below that is the weapon and armour tabs. Selecting either will change what appears on the right side of the screen between weapon and armour stats.

- The empty space is for the image of the part member, if I don't include that I'll move the weapon and armour tabs up below the name tab.

- Weapon/Armour Name will depend on what abilities are selected. Using Markus as an example, starting off with no abilities it will simply say Katana. If you went on to attach an ability such as 'Fire Strike' which adds the fire element to the sword then the name would change to 'Ignited Edge'.

-Below are the ability slots, you can only ever have six abilities attached at once. Three to your weapon and three to your armour. The abilities you choose could be battle winners or losers against bosses.

-Selecting a slot moves you to the box below which will contain a list of unlocked abilities. Selecting an ability will bring up a box explaining the ability with a choice box asking if you wish to equip it.

A few more notes on areas related to this system.

1) You don't get new weapons or armour.
2) Attack, Defense and Resistance Stats will either be upgraded via a Blacksmith OR more likely will be accessory based.
3) You get abilities from the Blacksmith using various materials.
