Changing a character's name

I am a n00b when it comes to making games with RPG maker XP. I know how I can make a character's name changeable, but I want to make that name stick, ie, when you input the name you entered, everyone will call you that name. Anyone know how to do that with RPG Maker XP?

You need a AMS script such as ccoa's UMS or Dubealex's AMS. Depending on which one you use, they will have a different command for that.

No you don't. Just make your messages use the \n[ x ] (where x is the actor #).
i.e. "Hello, \n[1].  How are you today?"

the new name will be saved when you save your game.
