Change Turn Based Combat?

Is it possible to change the RPG Maker VX's turn based combat style? Like, could i make simple sword swinging, arrow shooting, or magic casting animations? A warrior would have the sword, archer has bow, and the mage has magic stuff (common sense) and they would be used by like holding alt.

I think you're asking for more than one thing here, and you might want to clarify what you're asking about.

Could you make animations? Sure. If it's in VX, though, you'll need to script up some alterations to the battle system if you want attacker animations as well as target animations.

As for the last bit... I'm sorry, but that's a little vague for me. What kind of battle system do you want? "Used by like holding alt" is vague.

I mean like a real-time based combat system. I swing then the enemy swings, i swing, enemy swings, etc. and each time someone swung, a number above the opponent's head that would show the damage done.

If you're taking turns, that would be a turn based system, and showing damage above the opponent's head is what the system does anyway. Do you mean something like an ATB system, where there's a timer that runs between actions instead of just alternating blows?

I'm not sure if i fully understand you. I don't want to have cut-scenes. I just want to make the button ALT an attack button, and when u hold ALT, you attack, so if an enemy is in-front of you, you hold ALT and they both attack each other.

Cut-scenes? I didn't say anything about cut-scenes.

Are you asking for a Zelda-like real-time arcade-style run around the battlefield swinging your sword at enemies while they shoot arrows that you dodge as best you can type system? That's an ABS, and there are a lot of good scripts for them.

Okay, i found a ABS that looks pretty good, viewtopic.php?f=11&t=50811 But, idk how to use it lol. I know that i need to put it into a script or something but im really new to all of this.

If you have a specific script, you should probably ask for help with that script in a new topic.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to help you much there, myself, but luckily, there are lots of people around who can.
