CAVE BLASTER

A game about shooting cogs and ghosts while trying to get to the underground rec room~

Powerups:
  • Perpendicular Shot - Fires up and down. Cannot shoot forward.
  • Homing Shot - Fire a shot that heads straight for an enemy.
  • Spread Shot - Fire three shots, one straight ahead and two at an angle.
  • Omni Shot - Combines the Perpendicular Shot and Spread Shot
  • Redo - Grants one extra life, but also makes the enemies piping mad

What did you use to develop this?

EDIT: Ok so I played it. How the hell am I supposed to guess how to shoot? Also, I was saddened by the lack of animation when I hit a cog or something (I expected a 'splosion :()

Criticisms: Not enough explosions. Also, if I want to shoot really fast, I need to press shift a lot, which popups the annoying "you've pressed shift 5 times" message. Use space or something instead.

Things that would be nice: Weapon upgrades, shields (of some sort, a la Gradius), different types of ghosts/cogs that take more than one shot to die, etc.

But nice tech demo.

I used Multimedia Fusion 2 Dev. to make this. I was a little rushed to go out for the weekend when I started this, so there's obviously a lot that could be improved on. The explosions and different enemies being the main things on my list.
Yeah, I should change the key for shooting. Most people still have the sticky keys shortcut enabled.

Bump with an update:
The game now includes five powerups, and has explosions. Space is now used to shoot.

Looks basic, but i love arcade highscore games ^.^


Edit: Heres an idea, boss's

Ok explanation, alot of shooter games i have played like this right, you have difficulty start at one and it goes all the way till whenever you stop lol, right, after going through so much of the level the player stops moving forward on their own and begins to be able to move in all directions, killing the boss, each boss could like give 5k points/10k/15k or whatever and like after each boss the enemies get harder and harder.


And no sorry i don't want to take over your game world, i just thought you might like to hear any ideas XD
