With scripting, yes. But you'll need to get or write a script. I think such things already exist, though.

Wait. This is a computer you're playing on. You could always go to the Sounds and Audio Devices icon and mute your computer.

USe the sound control on the computer to mute RMXP (that's what I usually do). You should be able to do other stuff (like iTunes).
