C# stuff

Well, I recently dove into C# and it seems to be working fine for my brain  however, I could definetly use some resources. Now, to be more specific, and not just get a response of look through the threads... I'm looking for information and resources specific to C# Express Edition 2005 from Microsoft. Regardless of what people think about microsoft, it's what I use, so, please don't bash me for that (I've had it happen before... Notby anyone here, but still..) Anything helpful in simple game creation would be cool, since that is where I plan to start. The first thing would be information about making a loader for a game, such as the opening menu system? I know how to deal with forms, and, toolbar strips, menu strips, but, this is a little bit beyond that..

i own every book on amazon that wasnt rated as complete crap, and to be honest with you as far as game design goes, none of them were that good. most of my game design books that are good are in c++. however do you have any plans to use XNA? if so i can recommend tons of books on that subject(which i also own every book in, i have about 300 books on programing)

hmm.. maybe, though I do not plan to buy any information that I can download for free. Now, I'm a little rusty. Could you remind me what XNA does/is? I know that I know this, but, meh. I've been out of the programming field for a few years and haven't retained enough information it appears...

Its also designed for creating Windows games. Its really just a huge framework that gives you the tools required to create a game. It basically is to a creating a game what "System.Windows.Forms" is to creating a GUI. It has pretty much anything you'll need to create a game. It can be a daunting at first, it is a huge library, and you will want to have a pretty good grasp on C#, and feel pretty comfortable using it. The good thing is that there are tons of tutorials, forums, and example games to help you learn, so you won't have a hard time finding any answers you may need.

One other suggestion is to get rid of VS 2005 and go with the 2010 edition. There is no reason to be using outdated software when newer and improved versions are readily available. Download, install, and you will thank me later. :)

Cool, I probably will do that f0, but, It will require me to go home and do that from a crappy internet connection >.< I think I have the basics of C# pretty well, however, XNA is something of a mystery to me. I knew it was a game library, but, I've never used it. Anyways, I wouldn't mind some references to XNA, or, just pm me on either CP, LaT, or DM depending which forum already has it posted / linked on lolz... God I feel like a forum whore right now... Speaking of which, why haven't you joined TDR yet f0??

XNA is basically DirectX ported to .NET systems. Since all .NET languages are basically universal, you could probably code it in Visual Basic along with C#.
