^ I made the cup more tall and cylindrical and the tea more lighter

It's looking good, but you should make the tea more gradiated. It looks like there are lighter parts of the tea floating in the darker tea. Otherwise, it's good.

the brown tea makes it look like soup or something!
because it is a japanese cup.
as ~Emo~ said you should lighten it! make it more...bright (yellow...or something!) to make it look more like tea instead of soup.

Japanese Cups are usually taller and more cylindrical than that.

Plus, I would make the surface of the tea flat, or just on the top edge be highlighted.

Maybe make the tea a green tea since you said you want it to be in a japanese tea cup.
