Hey,
Not sure how people really knew me around here, and my activity has been really slowing down recently. It isn't rl issues, nor that I dislike this bored. It's that I've pretty much left the Game making scene, and haven't had anything of substance to post. So I've decided just to tell you all that I'm leaving.
It was fun, being here. I got some great feedback, we had some great discussions, and well, the random shit topic was probably the most fun. I liked having a place where I knew everybody, and everyone knew eachother, and we had our own inside jokes. The PWOYM topic was where most of this happened, and while it really didn't do anything for me but give me a time waster, it was definitely like a sort of bar or club for the members to hang out and just shoot the shit. That, of course, was where a majority of my posts were spent, and that's probably where I had the most fun too.
Wow, has it really been that long? Over four years I've been a member of this community. I can say too, I don't regret it... well maybe the first few posts in which I was pretending to be an elf. 2648 posts isn't alot, I guess, to most of you, but to me that's gotta be an achievement. My original goal was 1000!
I appreciated that the staff members put so much effort into the forum - especially the custom layouts and features on the board. The mods were cool people - people'd complain about them all the time, with their ragequit goodbye topics, but I'm pretty sure I never saw any of it happen (so the mods must do a good job of cleaning up :shades: )
My game, music, art, and writing got great support here. Though I didn't actually post alot of my stuff, I got some good feedback on what I had, and that helped me with making new stuff. People usually just think that the art, writing, music, and ect boards are just extra boards, not the main boards - and that's partially true - but I htink they are probably just as important as the Game support boards. I'd much rather get all my support here, in one place from the people I know, than from signing up for 4 different boards getting critique from people I don't know I can trust with a good review.
This is turning out long and sounding stupid in my head, but I've got to get it out before I leave.
I know that there's plenty of reasons to stay - I just gave a lot. I know that even though I've stopped game making, I could still get feedback on music and such. I don't really have a good excuse for leaving. It's that my activity has gone down, and I just don't feel like there's much left here for me to do. I guess rl could play a part - I've got lots more work on my hands than I used to. It's also that, unlike how it used to be, I haven't really been attached to my computer.
I'll be around, maybe a little, though I probably won't post. I'll be checking up on you guys every once in a while.
Keep it up staff. It's been fun, guys. Hope HBGames can keep growing.
