Breath of Fire II: The Fated Child (XP)

This is a remake of Breath of Fire II for RMXP. The TributeSoft team has been hard at work on this for a while, and we are staying true to the original story and charm of this great game. There is going to be a new translation of the game's dialogue, and many other new or enhanced features.

You play as Ryu, a member of the long-forgotten Dragon Clan who lives on the upper surface away from his kind with his human father. After leaving the village briefly, Ryu returns to find that nobody remembers him, and his father and sister have vanished. You then take control of Ryu as he journeys to uncover the truth about his family's disappearance. Along the way you will meet several new party members and eventually save the world (SNES RPGs didn't have a whole lot of innovation in the storyline department heh, but BOF's rich lore kept it interesting to me anyway).

I've been using this project personally to practice my scripting, which is developing quite well. I'm sure some of my code is messy but hey, for now, it WORKS so I'm happy. I'm responsible for designing menus, scripting stuff, and marketing it. Basically a community manager like those goons they get for Call of Duty games. Glad you like the look of it!

Been a while since I posted a project topic, so if I didn't do it right, someone let me know and I'll fix it up.
 
Hey, this game's looking pretty good, although I've never played a BoF game. Will I be able to understand this game anyway?

(Also, over at RMN, you said that you didn't agree with some of the policies here? I didn't want to bring it up there, but what are your problems?)

I actually did take some, but we're very early in re-designing the interface. So I didn't want to post anything that was incomplete (or at least, THAT incomplete). But I assure you, the battle system functions just fine. I will update when I have some new stuff.

Ray? I think puting Ray as an playable character wouldn't be good, since he is REALLY powerful, and you would need to make him weaker to favor game balance, what would take out part of his shine. Ray is stronger than ryu until he get hold of his full power (i won't give any datails about it to no give many spoilers =P), and ryu himself is already strong '-'

I see Ray like teepo, Fou-lu and Bosch. An strong "enemy" from the same race.

Graphically talking, it's looking good, but there's something that i really don't like: the game graphic is using 16bit resolution, with 2x zoom. but menus, text and such uses 32bit resolution without zoom. You should make everything with the same zoom, what would mean everthing in x2 res.
For the text you should use an script to draw the text with bitmaps (like the SFont from trickster)
 
@Atoa: We are going to explore options for graphical consistency, absolutely.

As far as Ray being too strong, we have a handle on that, I assure you. I won't spoil it, though.
