Brain storming how to swap drives (looking for advice)

So i have a hd with 2 partitions. c and d. i want to move c to a new drive i have. then rename the new drive c and reformat the old c and make it e or soemthing.

What i have:

C: Windows 7(partition 0)
D: Programs(partition 1)
I: New Hardvide

What i want:
C: Reformatted(Now I)
D: Programs
I: Windows(what as on c drive)

What do you think is the best way to do this, let me start with i already backed everything up. so im safe if have to scrap it all, but id rather not. also dont worry about something being technical, im sure i can handle it.

Windows 7 will always see the drive that its OS is installed on as C:.
AFAIK, you would never be able to boot up Windows 7 and have your home directory (that the core OS files are on) be anything other than C:.

I think that, even if you had a dual/multi-boot setup, with multiple iterations of Windows 7, any of your installations you boot to would end up appearing as being called the C: drive, then the other partitions or drives would get subsequent other lettering.
I may be wrong there but that's how I BELIEVE Win7 works. WinXP was not the same way.

So, anyway, in your setup, you will ALWAYS have Windows 7 on C:.

However, for your other drives, I believe you can do this:
Start > Control Panel > System & Maint. > Admin. Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management > (right click drive) > Change Drive Letter and Paths > assign a letter.

I've never bothered with it myself as I don't give the slightest shit what letters my drives are named, so I haven't fully tested it. But that SHOULD work for you.
