Books and Teacups?

How do you put the books and teacups on top of tables? they always cancel each other out? Thanks for the help!

I know how to switch the layers on XP, But I'm using VX, and i haven't found anything like that.

Create an event on top of the table with the book tile as its graphic -- if memory serves, VX still lets you use individual tiles as event graphics, but I could be wrong. :x
