Body Modifications - Piercings, Tattoos, Scarification etc

Hey, how are you all?

I'm just wondering if anyone on the forum has any piercings, tats or any other forms of body modifications?
I know they're not to everyones taste, so if you don't like them, don't post here.

I have 3 facial piercings, 2 vertical lip piercings and 1 nose ring. I haven't got any tattoos yet, but I've been drawing and designing bits for a few months now, and going to start getting inked soon.

Heres a pic of mine

I had my nose pierced about 3 days ago, and my lips about 6-7 weeks ago.
I had thought about getting my lips done for ages, but never really did anything about it, then I just decided to get them done, but couldn't at the time due to the job I was working in. I've left there now and my current job is fine with piercings. So I had my lips done, but decided to have them done vertically as it's different to the usual lip piercing. Instead of going into the mouth, they are pierced and fitted with a curved bar, and go through the lip and out the top. They hurt, but not too much, only when the needle was actually going through. As soon as it had been removed and the jewelery was in place, it didn't hurt.
Eating was a pain at the start, I had to cut up everything into small pieces that I could place into my mouth without having to bite. It took them quite a while to initially heal, and the piercer had done them up way too tight. I couldn't take them out, I had to go back into the studio where he was going at them with small pliers trying to undo them, this aggravated them, so took longer to heal.
My nose has been done for a few days now, and it's healing really well. It can be just left alone, whereas lips have to deal with food and drink and must be cleaned constantly.

Overall I love them, I was skeptical at first, but after the first day I loved them and every day that passes, I grow closer to them. If I take them out, just feels weird and bare. I constantly play with my lip piercings too, must look stupid doing it but oh well.

If you have anything done, experiences or desires, post a pic if you can or if not just tell us about them.

Well, no matter what, one should always be careful with those. Just enough to not get it infected. Nothing more, nothing less.

Myself, I really have nothing agaisnt piercings, just some people that get them to "look cool" make it look stupid and pointless, which I know isn't the case of you.

Some other piercings (excuse me on this) really disgust me... but that's rare...

Myself, I have a tatoo, and I like them, mine is very representative, but not enough to fill my entire body with them... that's just pointless (to me)

And I've seen a "fashion" that really make me feel sick... which is getting burned like a farm's cow, seriously... a freakkin 3-4th level burn just to look "cool"?

Overall, I think some of this things might be worth seeing and or getting. But always look carefully who's doing it...

Most piercings and self-inflicted scars make me nauseated, mostly because I'm allergic to pain and am prone to empathy-pains. Only thing I ever had pierced were my ears, once, and then I didn't have a choice: I was a young kid :'P. (I never wear earrings in them anyway.)

Some people say it doesn't hurt, but it's a turnoff nonetheless.

I don't have a problem with tattoos, probably because they look more like paintings than disfigurements, as long as there aren't too many tatt's. I'd still never get it done to myself, though.

However, I think folks who get tattoos in highly conspicuous areas are silly (like the face and hands). For one: OW. Secondly: good luck ever getting hired into a position any higher than coffee jockey or truck driver.

There are some cool bosses out there that don't judge based on personal appearance, but 90% of them are going to judge you.

Split tongues & head studs (forget the word - Lukas Zpira has them) are hot. Wish more people had those.

Corsets too, but most piercers who do those only do them to look cool & not in an experienced way that will last/not easily break apart, at least locally anyways.

Venetia, for most people in most places it's just a quick pinch & that's it as far as pain goes, as long as it doesn't get infected & the piercer isn't an idiot. Looks good on you Adam. :)

I had my lip and septum done but I took them out for my job, I also don't mind not having them in for now. It kind of gives me a chance to breathe and think about if I actually want them in my face or not . (I'm obviously going to get my septum redone). In the future there are a few I'm thinking about. My nape, hips, and a corset. I'm not sure which ones I'm going to go through with though.

@PINEDAXP
The only times piercings can get badly infected is when they are in the first stage of healing (normally a few weeks). The Second stage is when the skin toughens up, and the third is when the skin starts to reform and grow around it, creating a tube, It's just like any normal part of skin then and won't get infected.

@Lackluster
I love normal snakebites too and have being thinking off getting them done, as I can't wear rings in mine, has to be a bar. Well I could put a ring in, but it wouldn't sit right.

@Venetia
Some people actually like the kinda pain that comes with piercings and tattoos, personally I can't see it, but some do.
I decided to go for piercings before tattoos as they're not permanent, you can simply just take it out and it will heal over. They only tend to really scar if you have had them in for a long time and the skin has formed itself around it. Even then scars are quite minimal.
Whereas tattoos are permanent, well they can be removed, but the process is supposed to be more painful having it done and will often leave scarring.
I've been living in Australia for just over a year now, and people out here aren't bothered by piercings or tats, don't even blink and eye.

@Sandgolem
Do you mean Microdermals? They are surface anchors, just one stud anchored into the skin, they look cool. Not sure what you mean by Corsets though.

@JakeyZombie
Ahh I'm starting to like septums, wasn't too sure about them at first, but the same night I had my nose pierced, I thought about getting my septum done. They look pretty cool with 3/4 type rings, if that makes sence?

I really don't care about piercings or tattoos. I wouldn't get either one, but with other people I have that "whatever floats your boat" kind of attitude. However, as Venetia said, you kind of have to be careful about your placement of such objects, because you will be judged upon it, even though I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

I'm not getting any of them but I don't really mind them. Unless there's too many. Like some goth I saw the other day with 5 chains going from one eyebrow to his lip, a solid metal mohekan, and a load of other rings. Plus some guy at school who works for a tatoo parlour and has over 150 tatoos. (Seriously. And you don't want to know about some of them.)

I personally don't have any tatoos or piercings though.

I don't have any tattoos and probably never will. I just can't stand the thought of a pointy object being stuck in me for more than a minute. I'm also the paranoid kind of person who would worry all the time that somehow something would go wrong. I'd worry that it'd get infected, that the earring would be ripped out of my earlobe, etc.

Tattoos aren't my style either.

Planning to get my ears pierced. A lot of people I know in my school have tats usually with their names or crosses. I plan on getting a cross done on my back.

It makes me smile to see chicks get tramp stamps.

If you don't know what that is, it's usually a tribal of some sort on the center of the small of your back. Some dudes joke that it's something to look at while she's ... And he's .... Well, you get the picture. Others joke that's it's basically an advertisement for saying "Hey! I'll do it naughty with you!".

Anyway I love it. It's so stereotypical of young, single women who enjoy the party scene. Funny stuff.

I've had my ears pierced like 9 times now, and no matter how many are in there, or how many times I've gotten em holed again I always end up having to take em out for whatever reason and they close up. Just recently for my birthday my friend took a needle to my ear again.

No ink. Don't mind, but don't think I'll get any since any time I've considered, I couldn't make up my mind and ultimately said "nah, screw this. Ima buy me some dinner" and walked away.

I'm just fourteen, but I would consider getting a tattoo, namely one that featured my symbol on maybe my shoulder or arm. Probably wont happen any time soon though...

I don't like piercings though, not even ear piercings. Knowing that they can get infected, and that they ARE technically bits of metal jammed into your face/mouth, it never looks any good.

I was watching my sister and her husband get some tatts done today and decided to get some done myself, probably within next few weeks. The guy was such an inspiration, I'm going to see if I can get an apprenticeship. I bought 3 tattoo guns tonight and everything I needed to get started.
I've studied art, and have done heaps of designs for people, could be an awesome career, the guy who was doing the tattoos today earned around $1000. Obviously you have to account for costs etc but still, thats heaps of cash, and he loves doing it.
I'm going to seriously consider it, I haven't been this inspired in a long time.

You can do my TokiDoki diamonds.

The guy from my school that worked in a tatoo parlour quit because the pay he was getting was less than he'd get from EMA (money the government gives you for staying at school/college after 16)... Bearing in mind EMA is ?30 a week max (I only get ?10).
