Blizzard now owns Diablo3.com

They "randomly" asked for it from the owner of the domain, out of the blue, even though its been around for years.

Protecting their domain and all that.

Even though they've known its been there all these years.

Mhm....

CANT WAIT WHO IS WITH ME (DISCUSS)

Honestly, the idea of Diablo 3 has been lingering around for years and I'm getting sick and tired of little word of what's going on and it'd be nice to see some content soon.

I like Diablo/2, but I can't say I'm terribly excited about this. Blizzard sucks lately. If SC2 is unsatisfactory, then I will conclude that the company is no longer worth any of my time.

Honestly? I'm not too bothered. If it isn't in the top down style, it's not really Diablo, and there are loads of top dwon RPGs available nowadays. If its similar to Diablo 2 its probably going to be similar to Diablo 3 too.

I should purchase Diablo 4 and World of Starcraft/Diablo domains.  Who knows, it could be a smart investment.

Blizzard didn't pay Diablofans.com for the Diablo3 domain name. They simply asked for it. Because Blizzard holds legal copyright to the Diablo franchise, they could have seized the domain name by legal methods.

Also, Blizzard owned Starcraft2.com for years (almost since SC1 came out) before even announcing Starcraft2, so it's not as if this is any sort of indication that Diablo3 is going to be happening any time soon. Although, it is pretty obvious that by acquiring the domain they are at least considering making it.

Diablo is the spanish word for devil.  If companies have suddenly acquired the ability to copyright vernacular then I will scurry to claim ownership to every curse word and collect a penny from every American that uses it.

What?  That's not Diablo at all.  Diablo is about random dungeons, collecting loot, and power leveling.  Ask any hardcore fan and I doubt they'll put 3/4 perspective as the #1 selling point.

They're hiring people to work with members of the old Diablo team, and have been for awhile, and randomly took the domain after knowing its existed for at least a couple years by this guy, so...

They have copyright over the franchise name dude.

If you couldn't copyright solo words for a franchise, then Take Two could go and make an RPG called Fable 3 and make it complete shit just because "you can't copyright the word Fable".

They aren't copyrighting the word, they copyright the franchise. This allows them to take legal action/injunctions on people who would do anything that would harm their franchise, such as creating a website called Diablo 3 and withholding the name from Blizzard and then asking them to pay for it (cybersquatting, also illegal), creating a game similar to it and called Diablo X or Diablo: _______ without their permission, and such.
