so yeah ive been seeing this all over facebook, and I know alot of you that arent americans dont care, but its a pretty big step in the right direction for finally getting back after 9/11. Bin Laden's DEAD. Finally, that fucker should have been axed a long time ago.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqAMkDstPiU

theres obamer talkin about it if youre interested.

what do you guys think?

I think some poepple will want revenge :/

Can't say "Dead" is the best way to go.. (But then again capturing him also wouldn't work)..
Be blasted damn self-detonating fags they are...

I care, but I don't think he's *as* important as the media makes out. It's a big step but it won't make Al Queda fall overnight. He's just the public face, and not even really tied to the splinter groups across the world such as in Yemen.

Remember though this isn't just about America.

Agreed. Bin Laden may be dead but his goons ain't!

It is somewhat convenient that he was given a sea burial don't you think? The photos could be easily mocked up. The people on this forum have quite a large amount of skill, so professionals must be pretty damn good.

I see what you mean, but the question is, why would they fake his death or claim he was dead if they weren't certain? What good would it do rather than to produce a temporary "happyness" for those who wanted him dead, as he would release another video stating that he really isn't dead.

My mom posed an interesting philosophical point: how do we know he ever existed?

Also an interesting philisophical point: How do we know that anything but our own self exists?

<endofdiscussion type="solipsism" />

No, just kidding. This will sound a little silly, but that's kind of what a terrorist would want to happen, for people to question who the real enemy is. Personally, I don't believe the conspiracy theories about very much of anything. There's always conspiracy theorists who have what they think is solid proof, but it rarely ever is.

Of course, instead of the idea that the US or some other gov't invented him, what if Al Qeada invented him? That would be pretty interesting because if EVERYONE in Al Qaeda knew he was fake, then that would be a bad thing that the rest of the world thinks he is dead, because it would mean nothing to Al Qaeda. However, even if he is fake but most members of Al Qaeda think he is real, it doesn't matter. The importance of his death is symbolic. It will almost surely lead to an eventual decline in the morale of most of al qeada, and will likely lead to decline in recruiting numbers.

Yeah tbh that sounded a lot less conspiracytheorist in my head, I didn't mean it like that so much. It was more, we've only seen this person on the news, never in person. I guess the same can be said about any TV personality though!

Dude, they did that to prevent creating a shrine for his followers. It makes a lot of sense. I'm really glad they gave him a proper Muslim burial, anyway; the less we martyr him, the better.

Anyway, bin Laden being dead doesn't change a whole lot, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.

if bin laden didn't exist, and they could have "taken him out" at any point, and would have been media darlings for it, why wouldn't Bush have staged that during his time of having the lowest approval rating ever?

i know that this is going to spawn 10,000,000,000 conspiracy theories but what the hell doesn't.

the man was an ass. he shielded himself with his wife while chilling in relative luxury. he was the foreman and face of death and the world is better off w/o him.

you all forget: we also took out al qaeda's #3 man a few months ago. khalid shiekh, the so-called "accountant" and "chief of operations".
they're going to have a hell of a time finding funding or backing for a long while. there will be in-fighting and, hopefully, a dissolution over the years.

terrorism will always exist, and there are still plenty of terror organizations out there. but al qaeda's been dealt a massive blow and thats p awesome.

now only if we could get some civil liberties back which've been lost over the past 10 years.
(yeah, right.)
(next TSA requirement: all people boarding planes must disrobe in line and have an enema administered by a giant black man with barely a middle school education. oh, don't worry: if you're not guilty, you have nothing to prove! and enemas are good for you.)

I figure there are 3 ways of looking at this.
1. They have had Bin Ladin for some time and have been 'getting information' from him about his faction and trying to tear them down. Now they have run out of 'needed' info and have disposed of him and claimed a victory!
2. They really just found him and killed him straight out.
3. This is a tactic to get him to show himself to prove he is not dead.

Proper muslim burial, well if only momslims would DO sea burials.. Couple of Muslim organisations have already complained..

And now pakistan starts to complaine too! (something about not being involved and the army being ashamed not seeing the helicopters)...

Trouble is just starting

Bin Laden is a symbol, but he didn't actually lead Al Qaida since 2005 or so.
So true.. With Osama dead all they've accomplished is bringing down a symbol and a lot of shit (the small extremistic groups of Al Queda aren't going to be happy there "leader" is dead).

I wouldn't be victorious yet..

there were pakistanis living right next to the compound, with no ties, affiliation, or love for america, talking to international BBC correspondents with no ties to the military, who said that the raid happened just as it was described, and could pinpoint osama's guards/couriers leaving and entering the building repeatedly for some time.

so, unlikely!

2. They really just found him and killed him straight out.
pretty likely!

that'd be a reeeeeeaallllllllly bad P.R. idea.
like
super
god
damn
bad.

No matter whether it's a hero of the terrorists, or a fictional puppet of the state - someone does benefit from us giving a shit, and it's most likely not someone working in our best interest. So, forget about that fag and move along - the longer you shit your pants, the more you'll be willing to sacrifice more civil rights, or be afraid of some nutjobs' jihad bullshit (whichever you prefer, most likely both).

PS. I didn't see any mushroom clouds outside my window today, and it's very unlikely that I ever will, especially if I didn't cause it.

Terrorist alert etc always seems to work like a ziplock. It can go up when something new comes along, so our freedom is inhibited a bit for possibly good reasons, but then it doesn't go back down again when the threat gets lower.
