"Best. Cartoon. Ever."

Name any anime, old, indie, flash, or mainstream cartoon that you think is the best out of them all. Please, do not put the names of porno/hentai cartoons......
The debate begins now!:thumb:

I like to categorize these things so here goes:

Best Anime: I hate anime... with a passion. Most of it is pretty tripe and generic shit with a lot of screaming, repeat frames, and stale "LOL NATURE LETS LOVE EACH OTHER!" storylines... then along came Here and There, Now and Then. The only anime with a captivating story, memorable characters, and a plot that's not afraid to kill people off (and does it effectively). The ending still has me in tears.

Best American Cartoon: Rocko's Modern Life... pretty much hands down. While Ren and Stimpy focused on a lot of booger and fart jokes, RML was a satirical commentary on, well, modern living. Anyone who's seen this show will instantly remember the genius of the PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION episode or the "let's make fun of wildlife guys" R.E.C.Y.C.L.E. episode complete with random song and dance. The show also had a lot of dark humor that most kiddies wouldn't get like Filbert performing black magic on Rocko's car... or when Rocko's car got raped in the ass by a big truck. Yeah...

As far as older toons go, Prince Valiant (although it's barely 20 years old) was fantastic and was one of the earlier shows that transcended the borders of "cartoon" and a real story seen in prime television. Nickelodeon's "As Told By Ginger" was another revolutionary show and was the first animated show that featured an inter-racial relationship and characters that actually AGED. Adult Swim's Moral Orel is FANTASTIC and it proves to be one of the few shows that actually has fucking balls (and Robot Chicken is an excellent random comedy show that's pretty funny).

Finally, no comic-book loving, alternative music craving fanboy would leave out Invader Zim from his list. Stupid and loud enough for young kids yet full of dark and subversive humor, incredible animation (and imagination), and plenty of references to Vasquez's earlier works.

I actually Camp Lazlo. It's more kid friendly but it has this "retro" feeling to it like a modern rendition of looney toons. It also doesn't resort to gross out humor and it's actually pretty intelligent.

I also forgot to mention Tiny Toons and Animaniacs. The orignial Batman animated series needs to be mentioned as well because it was truly one of the greatest comic book renditions in animation. Fox's X-Men was also true to the comic books and X-Men Evolution took a nice spin on the mutant academy.

In regards to more post-modern shows, Hey Arnold takes the cake. I never really liked it as a kid but when I watch older episodes I really appreciate it for it's writing and music. And then there's Disney's Recess and... ugh, I could go on for hours.

*coughgankutsuoucough* HTNT isn't the only one that fills out those requirements....

Anyway, best cartoons ever are the good old Bugs Bunny shorts. It embodied all that was good about the golden age of 2D animation.

For me, it's a tie between Megas XLR, Invader Zim, and Futurama. Odd that all three were cancelled. (Unless Megas is still around, but somehow I doubt it).

Actually, no, scratch that. Futurama. Definetely Futurama. Funny, satirical, and sad (The 7-leaf clover episode comes to mind). Not to mention the characters. I've never since seen characters like Dr. Zoidburg or Bender.

Futurama, Family Guy, FMA, Abenobashi Magical Shopping Arcade (F'ed up), FLCL (a step down from AMSA), Classic Bugs/Daffy, Robot Chicken, Static Shock (just kidding!), Invader Zim (Gir(sp?) rules!), Simpsons (mildly entertaining classic), and the Anime on the Encore Action! Channel where men are from one planet, woman from another, and a ship full of woman captures three men and they all go on adventures together through space, and Cowboy Bebop, and Trigun, and also Wolf's Rain, and ...

My head hurts...

Camp Lazlo is by the same people as Rocko's Modern Life? Probably explains why I actually like the show when I am a 21 year old guy.

Rocko's Modern Life is a huge part of my childhood, along with Duckman and Ren and Stimpy. I love new cartoons, like Venture Brother's and Ripping Friends, because of their similarities in story-style to R&S, RML, and Duckman.

Moral Orel, Futurama, South Park, Invader Zim, Hey Arnold!, Rocko's Modern Life, the first few Fairly Oddparents episodes, Venture Brothers, Harvey Birdman:Attorney at Law, Mission Hill...

I could go on...

I think Avatar: The Last Airbender is the greatest cartoon (besides Family Guy ^_^).

Have to second that, that cartoon is very cool... not matter how much of an anime rip it is.

I also got to love Fosters home for imaginary friends. Truely one of the best cartoons for a very long time.

Invader Zim (Love Jhonen Vasquez)
Avatar: The Last Airbender (F'ing amazing)
I also have to agree with Foster's Home. Love that show ^_^
Full Metal Alchemist is also a truly amazing show, even if it is anime. ^_^
Speaking of anime, Trigun, FLCL, and Naruto come to mind.
