This is my first 'Game'. It's made with RPGXP and I had to learn a lot about switches, variables, etc.
It's really not very good and I'm not sure if it's worth the download. Try it out please, so I can make it better.

I think I got the whole thing down with switches/variables. Check the game out! :eek:

Guide - SPOILERS! DONT OPEN! UNLESS YOU'RE STUCK!

Alright, once that old hag leaves, you should take a look at the mausoleum in the north-eastern part of the map.
Alright, now you will need to search the rocks. You have to find 2 (two) rocks that are natural. They should have a switch under them. Once you do that, the door to the south-east is open.

Once inside the sewers, you will have to walk into a switch. Turn this switch and continue along the path.

You shall see 2 ghosts hear you must fight. After that, turn that switch.

You will find yourself doing various tests.

The first test is simple, go to the CRYSTAL (hahahahahahah it's not part of the story, though so it DOES NOT COUNT!)

Next you must know a bit about graphing. The bottom left one reads '0,0'.

All I can give you.

~~~~~GLITCH! THE FIRST CLUE THEY GIVE YOU IS FALSE. JUST TRY ALL THE ORBS IT WILL BE FIXED.

once you've done that test, you must fight a boss.

YOU MUST USE ATLEAST ONE POTION ON HIM!

Once you do that, you will have to kill everybody in town.

Once you do that, a chap will appear by the beach. Get rid of him and return to the grand tree.

This is where you get sent to jail and have to escape. Figure it out yourself here. I mean there's only 2 objects here.

SPRITERS
I need a good sprite of Max, the main character. I don't want him to be like a 'bulky warrior in heavy armor'. I want him a boy. If you play the demo, you can see what he looks like. I need a sprite with the same style of hair (green). Also I need a battler picture (XP). Make him wear robes. Thank you. =]

SCRIPTERS

Anything to make the game better :wink:

MAPPERS
I need you to improve my already made maps. PM me and i'll send you 'em!

AUDIO
I need a nice tune for the main menu. I also need music for battles.
-For the main menu, I want the music slow but not soft. I want it mysterious like you know you're going to be playing a good game.
-For the battle music: Simply put, make it fast. I don't care if it's soft or loud, I want it fast. Make the player think 'oh no, I might die!'.

The picture you made for story and screens is kinda cool. Anyway.


Finally, a first game with a story that doesn't suck. So far it seems pretty shallow, but at least there's no crystals, I hope. You screens weren't bad till the last one, which is a horrible map, dude.

(I'm not terribly fond of the smileys, myself, I love text so much~ :D) Since it looks short, here's my basic thought process as I'm playing this.

First impression: As much as I like that song, no thanks. I'd pick something with less radio play, maybe with a little softer intro. Maybe less volume, too, but that's relative. Looks un-default enough to keep playing, though.

Anyway, I'd keep a close eye on your grammar. Commas, especially. "Run along, now!" Anyway, that's almost too Granny-sounding, given the context of the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire. I get control (I'm not sure whether to thank you for telling me how to move or not; if you're only releasing it to maker communities, nix the mini-tutorial), and I have no idea where to go. So, I wander. Big, ominous door does nothing. Look around, no obvious exits. Mapping: The mossy mini-columns in the middle of the row float over my head as I walk under. And I dislike having to weave around the area; some of the roots and vines look like I can walk over, but actually can't.

Puzzle: Something about trees and rocks. Cryptic, going to try and talk to some foliage. No dice. Interesting that the monolith has new hints. Figured it out. There's no hint that the door will open after pulling both switches, given that the monolith clues seem to reset after you do so. A note on Max's tone: His disuse of contractions would suggest he's supposed to be a little proper, but he's kind of colloquial, too. The exclamation points, and the "Whoa!" sort of stuff.

Sewers: Mapping is weak. See attached, and consider whether a sewer would be logically designed in the way you have. And random underwater stairs...?

Battle: Battle theme is lolwut? It's a little too hard and modern for what seems to be a non-steampunk fantasy setting. And it's rather jarring to go from that to lolfanfare when I win the battle. Nothing interesting about the fight itself. Your windowskin's cursor isn't transparent, try reimporting it, and clicking the area around the sword.

At this point, I get stuck. I flick the switch, the door is unresponsive. So, I backtrack. And Max tells me I'm being dumb. At this point, I remember you have a guide. Except you don't. So, more wandering. Can't figure it out, so I'm saving and quitting. Talk to me.

And you're stuck?

Turn the southern switch and then go north and kill the 2 ghosts. After that turn that switch and the door should open.

Does it not?

There was no southern switch. (I went to the upper one first.)

Did you set up the southern switch to disappear after the mandatory Ghost x2 encounter by the gate, or by the subsequent flipping of nearby one? Because there was a path that led to nowhere below the Ghost encounter that looked suspicious.
 
You should lose the spoilers around most of that stuff, I mean right now the only info that isn't hidden away is the fact that you don't like the smilies(which btw is a totally dick thing to say someone worked hard on these:| ). Also all of your screenshots are in black and white, which is pretty lame if your game actually isn't in black and white. It'd also be nice if you elaborated on your character(s? if there are more characters you should probably mention them) some. I know you think it's cool and fancy to use an image to show off your game, but really it just makes it more difficult to update your thread.

I may try out the demo, but I'd like to know approximately how long it is(another thing which should be included in your post).
 
It should take you around 30 minutes. (Possibly Less)

I don't know it takes a while less for me because I know where everything is.

Depends on the puzzles.

as for the smilies, sorry. Actually the only one I don't like is this one :haha: and this one :mad: . XD
 
It'd be nice if you addressed my other points! also didn't you have anyone beta-test for you? whenever you release a demo to the public you should always have at least one other person than yourself beta-test.

Not really, I have the PSD on my desktop. I just upload it to imageshack.


As for the BETA testing... Hmm... Didn't really know about that! Thanks!

It'd be wrong if I close it to the public right now, so I will ask people to beta test Mission 2. (once it is done)

OOPS! Might have missed that.
When I tried it I turned the southern switch first so... maybe it is.

I will fix that :biggrin: . Try turning the southern switch first. :eek:

EDIT: Fixed it right now, actually :D

Made a conditional branch so its all good.
 
I like your game. The story is nice. I like how the characters are given ordinary names like "max" instead of fancy ones like "Mangdegilus" or the like. :smile:
