Welcome to HBGames, a leading amateur game development forum and Discord server. All are welcome, and amongst our ranks you will find experts in their field from all aspects of video game design and development.

Avast!

Hello, thought I'd register and experience this community and hopefully learn a thing or two about developing games.

What is your history with game creation and the game making community?
I've been developing games since I was 10, I was first attracted to the older EnterBrain products and progressed onwards from there. As for the gaming community I've been a global moderator for a few sites about 7 years ago, helped create tutorials on how to break into this industry and what to study to progress your career.

What is your field of expertise in game making?
I generally try to stay the jack-of-all-trades, but master them all (Ambitious  ). If I was to stay which was my strong points, probably in the design stage and overall managing of people to keep up the workload. I studied web-design for two years, then progressed onto games development for another two. During which I was heavily into music and drawing/3D modelling.

How did you find the forums?
It's always been on my favourites list for a few years but I never signed up. Not sure why, I guess I just signed up so I can really get down into the development process, make a few friends/team mates, lurk in mIRC and generally have some fun.

What kind of creative talents do you have (outside of game creation)?
I mentioned above about the musical side of me, apart from that is general heavy fiction writing, song writing (Lyrics and guitar licks), digital/pencil artist (Small concepts).

What are your hobbies or interests?
I enjoy a vast amount of literature, currently reading the Necronomicon by H.P. Lovecraft which I can't believe I haven't read before. As for that, maintaining a steady social life and work ethic in university. I am a firm Satanist and anything occult interests me greatly.

What kind of music do you listen to?
Depressive black metal, blackened death metal and classical. Sometimes I may venture out a little, but not very often.

What level of education are you in? What are you studying in college?
Batchelor of Arts (BA) in Game Design and Production Management (University) in Dundee, Scotland. It's a four-year course, but a heck of a lot cheaper than down in London (Around £1,800 instead of £3,800-£9000). I live away from home which is in Surrey, England.

Awesome Bro

"Depressive black metal"

:eek::

I'm a big fan of metal, but why would you listen to depressive music lol, unless you listen to it to release the blackness of your soul from the depths of your heart?

Aaaanyways

Hi there, nice to have someone else from the UK here, and it seems you know a lot about what you're doing etc. and since you've been lurking I guess you'll know some of the members here beforehand.

Welcome to the forums pal!

I just love the sound and feeling DBM gives, I'm not out to kill myself or anything incase anyone is wondering.

I know OF most of the members here and their "ways". Thanks for your welcome Jbrist.

I had no idea so many members were British. Oh well. God save the Queen.

I have a question for you, since I'm not very experienced in the matter at hand, what's the difference between "depressive black metal" and "blackened death metal"? I've never been much of a metal fan.

Depressive black metal have elongated intros/outros that stay on simple power chords, also their wailing (aka: singing) is more desperate and well.. sad. As for blackened death metal, that's more like BEHEMOTH the band, they're a popular choice for that genre. Heavy double bass kicks and vocally similar to black metal, same with the lyrics.

Thanks again for the welcome everyone.
