Auto-Downloader/Updater

Anyone know how to create a proggie that downloads a file or a set of files when run then execute them?

All the other programs out there like this are complicated and cost MONEY (typical) so can someone help?

Hmmm, you must be more specific on the need of you so-called "proggie." Is it a separate update program? Should it be run when a certain program is run? Should it have a GUI? Should it run in the background? What program exactly do you need this for? etc.

I need it so when I launch the updater it downloads a specific file from a website, eg: http://www.updater.com/update.exe/. it in a backround updater, it downloads them where the updater is located, when the update is finished it launches the main application in the dictonary. Similar to the WoW Updater.

but the WoW Updater is not in the background, background means you don't see it.

When you minimize it it becomes backround. It goes in the tray thingo.

I've tried making one, but I never continued this project after a year, there are some floating around the net, but they cost money heh (and they aren't that cheap in terms of a simple program as this) though using google you could probably find a few programs that could do this.

I found a few programs: Advanced Installer 4.6.x, Sunisoft IncUpdate (like this one.) MyUpdater.

The closest thing I have 'ever' made to a virus was a simple .bat file that deleted all the folders and files in its dictionary. And I made that at school and watched my hapless victims work get deleted, then me getting a 2 month ban off computers
