Arabian Town

Hmm it's pretty over the top for a town theme. I mean it's very wonderful sounding but to me this sounds more like an introduction to an arabian type game rather than just for a town. Maybe it needs a tad bit more simplicity as I feel this song is too strong and has too many levels to it to be just for a town. But it is absoultly wonderful sounding. Very nice indeed.

Um... thanks? That's actually been a small problem I often go for the score feeling for my songs (if you listen to my other songs). Although I don't think it's that bad honestly.

This sounds more like a theme to an enormous, imensely rich and majestic blistering city in the desert!

Using this for just some random desert town would be a waste in my opinion. Great piece :)

i dont think it was bad, its okey for my taste for an arabian town haha.

So, it seems like you like to play a lot with the percusions in your songs XD

Dang. Do you have like all your songs in one place? I'd like to listen to them all.

This song doesn't sound very Arabian town-y, like other people said...it sounds like an incredibly fun, intense chase seen on Prince of Persia or something lol.

...That's definitely not saying it's bad...heck no. It's amazing! I'm just saying it doesn't sound much like a town.

lol if you are not an excellent mapper then don't use it. Thats the disclaimer you should put on it. You walk up and hear the epic music and you reach to a horribly mapped and crappy town. Kinda throws ya off.

To be fair, after reading the comments I thought I'd agree with everyone but I I think this would sort a large bustling desert town very well or any desert environment for that matter. I recently finished Rogue Galaxy and could imagine this track playing for all the areas in Rosa.

Two bits i'm not sure about, the high pitched thing near the end is a bit irritating and as the song would repeat I'd be cautious of adding in little bts like that. It makes the song recognisable to when it repeats but a town thing theme should loop pretty seamlessly.

A minor gripe but after the initial kick in there is a little moment with just a beat which kills the Arabian vibe slightly, I can't tell you exactly when but listen and I think you know what I mean.

...but yeah minus too many changes in pattern it fits well. If you just used pretty much the first melody you came up with (which is the best one anyway) it would work VERY well in my opinion... ya just can't help getting bored and have to go change it up don't ya!

That sounds so dismissive, especially since she has a very valid point. If you put your work up for criticism please take it like a grown up, and don't write it off to spare your own pride.

I agree with Raven on this one. While it is fine composition, It's a little too springing and explorative, "epic" if you will, for a town. It might help to drop back the drum beat, make it more subdued. Less YA-ta-da-YA-ta-da. Probably slow down the tempo too and cut back a little on the strings. Keep them there but make them less dominant. In general the whole thing could be a little more subdued, and less syncopated (I think the word is?). Flowey and relaxing; a town is a place of respite.

That said, I do like the melody and were it intended more for an adventure field, You'd have my full thumbs up behind it. It's very exotic and certainly appropriate for the said desert theme. It has a very adventurous quality to it, which in this case is both it's strength and it's weakness.

I've seen the word "epic" come up in almost every post here, but what exactly makes the song so epic?

The song sounds great, but I couldn't see it being used in a RMXP game and I think that's where a lot of the mixed feelings are coming from. You have a high quality song with a low quality environment. It would go perfect with a high detail 3D environment, because the songs depth could match the town's.

Epic is, as you said actually it implies something grand scale and adventurous. Which is the feeling the song has.

And well stated on the 3D

Don't get me wrong, I do like the song. I'm just saying it changes up too much for a mere town, even for a game in 3D or whatever type. Stick to one type of beat and maybe mix it up in the middle and go back again. If you throw too much in that's why it begins to sound like something other than a town. Like Panda said if you just used the first portion it would go great as a town theme but then he starts to mix it up way too much and makes the beat grow stronger as the song progesses... where as you really don't need to do that so much for a town. Also for a town it should seemlessly repeat as much as possible. Great song Serenade just not good for what it was intended. It still can be used for say an intro like I said. No worries toning something down is a lot easier than the other way around.

Oh fuck off. I don't need to be lectured on my manners. I have the right to express how a feel about comments said. After all it is my own topic isn't it? I'm not obliged to agree with everything anyone says. Either way, I never disagreed his or her comment.
