Anyone here Play any Instruments?

I played the piano for years, and got pretty much nowhere, (well, I did get better when I practiced... Maybe there was some kind of connection...)

Now I play guitar, and don't do much else. The nice thing is, I keep getting better and better, with hardly any focused practice. It seems amazing, after years of classical training, that you can just pick up an instrument and play around, and that a few weeks later you've somehow better ^_^ The only thing is that now I've got to learn to read manuscript if I want to join the jazz band. It's painful.

Ironically, I found someone's old grade 5 pieces book at their house the other day, and had a look at the last one I did before I gave up. Somehow, after about a year without touching a piano, I can now play all my old pieces better than before :-/

I also sing, but I don't really like doing it.

I've been playing guitar for about 15 years, and piano for around 10. although I was self taught at the beginning, eventually I took classes at university in Classical composition and electro-acoustic.
Now I fool around with MIDI, mixing, sampling, recording and pretty much everything that deal with music.

Piano/keyboards for about 3 years, guitar/bass for about 2, and harmonica for a few months... trying to find a way to learn violin or cello (Kinda hard when you don't have one, though)

Used to play the violin...ugh. Right now though, I'm playing drums. I'm actually not to bad. But with all those "sound laws" you can't make a lot of noise over a specified time, I really don't have that much time to practice.

Mhm, I play flute and violin for about 12 years now... atm I'm trying to play some Vanessa Mae songs, but 12 years don't seem to be enough -_-

I used to play flute on school. Every year we had a music concert. Once, I was unable to play flute, so, I was the concert presenter.

haha :] killler you should join a band! :p

Ya well i play in a rock band :] and im our lead singer, song writer, and pianist.
im kinda in the same boat as Khengi though, ive only played drums for like.. a few hours.. but i can get a beat going, and.. i sound ok :]

Haha, I never got into the piano. Pity, because it could have been good for musical theory from an early age. Sadly, shitty inner city state schools do that to you.

I did play trombone for about 6 months, but this was the same school, so they cut the funding.

Since December 2004 I have been a player of the guitar (zing), although I personally feel I only really began to play properly when I got my second acoustic early 2006, but a year and a bit of theory and basic practice has meant I am pretty good at it. I made the inevitable electric purchase September 06, opting for a more Jazz style guitar, but have stuck to acoustic. Given I sing and do a lot of funky shit when playing, like turning round and around whilst playing spirally riffs, I generally stick to Rhythm and short solos when playing.

On top of this, my brother began playing the Bass mid 2005, so I have a pretty good handling of that, though common criticism is I'm "too nice" whilst playing as I just feel odd putting such force on strings in comparison to my usual acoustic.

And on top of this, I've been playing the harmonica casually (ie, once a month or so) for the past year and it's pretty easy. Which is pretty nice for Dylan songs :D.

Haha sweet :]
i play acoustic more than electric, and I'm more rock//emo? (you could say), than jazz what type of guitars do you have?

Guitar (electric and acoustic), bass, piano/keyboard, tabla, and some drums.

I used to play the Clarinet, but I instantly quit after the band teacher was being an ass to everyone. Plus, I was getting tired of it. I quit.

I might either be getting a Guitar or a Drum set dependent on my grades for the rest of the year.
