Anyone getting Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin?

Yes, definitely. Bloodlines was awesome, and this is the sequel. And even though I became a Castlevania fan less than two years ago, I've been very impressed by everything about the series, from the dark stories to the excellent music and the wonderful gameplay, and then some. Anywho, this will definitely be a priority for me and the next DS game I plan to get (if not Star Fox Command).

In other news, I hope IGA's next game is the 1999 Demon Castle War of Julius Belmont, which is reflected upon quite a bit in Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow.

RIGHT HERE! I HAVE to get it! I MUST! The series is the best IMO. That Brauner guy looks cool.

I'd love a game with Julius as the main character!

I intend to get it. I've enjoyed all the 2d Castlevanias so far, and Portrait of Ruin is looking quite nice (Read: exactly the same), so yeah, I'm getting it.

I'm sure there's loads of SOTN fans here. I didn't even get a chance to play that great game ;_;

Well actually, I beat about 30% of it once...but I want to own it!

I totally thrashed SOTN, one of the best games I've ever played.

Also, if you had the Genesis version you could be Richter or Maria, along with Alucard. Was fun, but you had to experience the full effect with Alucard.

Neways, I might get this. I didn't even know about it, but if it looks like SOTN, then yeah.

You really gotta get SotN. And it was the Saturn version, Nocturne in the Moonlight, that featured Richter, Maria, and Alucard all playable at once. Unfortunately, I heard the game suffers from some bad lag issues, and that strays me from getting it.

I've loved the Castlevania series since the NES/GBA games, I've missed the last two or three releases just to lack of fundage but i'll get to em sooner or later.

It's the music. IT's so godly. Nothing compares to it. I want to own every one in the series, but that's proving to be rather difficult.

It's funny, though. My first Castlevania experience was on October 31, 2004. Not only was it Halloween, it was the day after I got a PS2 with Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts. But after that, I got Symphony in the summer of '05, and quickly jumped into the rest of the post-SotN games. Recently, I've been playing the rest of the old ones, and so far, Super Castlevania IV is my favorite there (that's one of the top 3 games in the series). I'm still playing Simon's Quest, Dracula X, and Bloodlines, though. Nope, can't find Rondo.

Redattacker, you are very right about the music. Best music of all video games. Aside from a rather big portion of Harmony of Dissonance, I have yet to find a soundtrack in the series that I didn't like, and even HoD did have some good tracks ("Offense and Defense", Clock Tower, Chapel of Dissonance).

Here. This is a site I go to, and one of my favorites.

I'm listening to "Theme of Simon - String Concerto" right now. Oh, how good it sounds...

I can't wait for this one, looks great(even though it is only the fourth one I've played, the others being all on the GBA and DS), however, I don't like the artstyle, as with DoS. Too generic, but that still won't stop me from playing, even with the generic artstyle, the character design at it's core is always incredible.

You guys should try the classic ones someday, too. I strongly recommend Super Castlevania IV, but any of the pre-SotN ones (minus Castlevania Adventure and possibly Castlevania Legends) are good choices.

I have to buy a DS so I can get DoS first. I beat HoD, IV, and AoS. (Lost my SoTN Disc so gotta get a new one of those). Even the PS2 Castlevania game was alright, although the jump into 3D could have been a better experience

actually the first castlevania on PS2 isn't the first one made using 3D. There's also the crappy N64 episodes (IGA didn't worked on them though).

But I'm eagerly waiting on the next one, it looks very promising.
