Anyone else play Phantasy Star Universe?

Anyone else play online with this? I'm a lvl 20 CAST Ranger, named Rhianna. I generally hang out in Universe 2, so say hi if you see me.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOMEONE PLAYS THIS ONLINE OTHER THEN ME NOW!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!! Yeah... I play. lvl 80 Cast named C-0719. HU=10 RA=10 FO=10 fG=10 gT=8 wT=10 FF=10 FG=4 FT=2 PT=4 Woot! hmm PS2/PC or 360?

I have the PC version, but I'm offline only. Terrible waste of 60 bucks(CDN). It's what's caused me to lose all faith in Sonic Team. It's trash, don't touch it. If you want a good online game, move along, there's plenty else there.

How can you judge the online mode if you've only played offline?

The fact that the gameplay is literally the same might help.

But in reality (reality being my opinion and not actually being fact in any way), the game was alright. I mean, the story was terrible. The characters were terrible. I've often said the characters were like they weren't even trying hard enough to make cliches work. The British guy that chases women didn't even get his cliche right, it doesn't seem like they're trying to deviate from the cliche, it seems like they somehow managed to fuck the cliche up.

But aside from the godawful story detracting completely from the game in every way, I found it alright. Guns certainly made more sense, where you didn't shoot in three hit combos like in PSO. But then again, the game completely failed to hold my attention past a single playthrough (and laughing at the comical plot was pretty much my impetus for completing the single player anyways), and the online mode takes much longer to level up on.

It's an acquired taste. .. Oh also the PS2 version has fuck-god-awful load and framerate issues. More than 6 things on screen = slowdown that affects gameplay. And since my friend has the 360 version, and often plays with like 6 other people at a time, I'd say this would probably be nigh-on game breakingly annoying on the ps2 version online.

I'd have to lean more towards Fafnir's opinion on this one. PSU lacks that special something that made you able to ignore the godawful setting and all that jazz.

EDIT: FOOD TIMES NOW! wee eating in the dead of night is always such a hassle, since I can't use the kitchen ;-;

well I love psu <3 yes... i hate the slowdowns on the PS2 but im use to it now. but once i get my PS3 i get to say good bye to slowdowns! yay ^^. Man the expansion looks f'in good... cant wait! so going to use a slicer

If anybody's looking at PSU, I highly suggest PSO. Essentially, the original game in the online Phantasy Star games, and incredibly fun, both online and off(GCN version has split screen multiplayer too, which is pretty fun). It's basicly everything that PSU failed to live up to(the only thing PSU managed to surpass was the gun combat really. The rest of the combat system is just fluff, sadly).

God I hate you people that are less than 12 years old. The start of the Phantasy Star games was Phantasy Star 1. Not a damn game that was made in 2000.

PSO bored me to tears. Not to mention has no story whatsoever (which is sadly an improvement over PSU), and extremely... Boring gameplay. As far as I remember, it was basically three-hit combo. Repeat. Repeat about 30 more times, maybe use a dimate, or resta if you had it. Maybe a giresta. (which should be called fucking res/gires/nares godamn 12 yearolds) Then repeat the three hit combo again.

But then again, I've been told MMORPGs just seem to not be my style. Even if I enjoy mindlessly levelling up and magicfinding in diablo 2 for some reason that still haunts my brain... Ah well. If I had to pick, I'd pick PSU over PSO. PSO just didn't have any flavor to it for me. PSU has a flavor, and I'd take piss over [blank] if I had to have one of them. Luckily I don't, and I can just go play the old phantasy star games instead. Boomerangs are great.

I am aware of the original Phantasy Star series. That's why I said 'the start of the ONLINE Phantasy Star Games'. Although I have to admit to never having played them, I am aware of their existance.

I'm not going to disagree with your opinion on PSO though. It can get repetative, and I find myself playing it in bursts every once in a while, stopping, and picking up back where I left off a while later. Splitscreen is really fun, FYI.

oh my, I didn't notice you said online. I guess I'm just used to seeing it at the end of the word. Also used to seeing people thinking PSO is the 'original phantasy star' game. >: |

But yeah I would like to play split screen mode, my brother loves the game, but he's in the military and always away so I've never got a chance to play it split screen, as most people I know hate the game. They also hate guilty gear too ;-;. (So sad, nobody I know personally likes the games I like the most)

guys dont listin to Fafnir. yes PSO was great... but once you play PSU you can never go back... god i tried to play pso again recently... it made me think "how the hell did i play this?" PSU is alot better. The battle system is alot better PSU pwns PSO

Meh, to each his own.

But guys, I need help. Apparently, Game Guard doesn't like the internet in Arizona, cause it refuses to get past "Connecting" when PSU is loading up. Anyone know the problem?

I've heard of, and seen Phantasy Star. I think One of my friends actually plays PSO. I might give it a try, it resembles Star Ocean so I will probably like it.
