Alot of questions from a noob like me XD.

I've got a LOT of questions that are really dumb (In my opinion.), sorry about that.

QUESTION 01: I have the running system of Windows Vista and the program of Rpg Maker XP, I get a error message saying: "Failed to obtain a trial serial number from the Ntitles server". Now I know its cause I've got Vista, right? So, my brothers version is registered but mine isn't, so can I copy from his computer and overwrite my Rpg Maker XP files and use the trick for Vista to get it to work?

QUESTION 02: So even if the first question asked above works, do I have to be connected to the Internet to use it? Because my Vista can't use the Internet only my brothers can because we got Dial-up and I don't have a modem.

QUESTION 03: If I can use it will I be able to make a introduction screen like on Pokemon how professor talks to you where you can name your character and stuff?

QUESTION 04: If that's possible can I make it so I can decide if I want to be a Girl or a Boy?

QUESTION 05: If the last 2 questions above are possible can I make it so you can name you character?

QUESTION 06: If the last 3 questions are possible (This may be extremly hard or very highly likey that it will be imposible.), can I make it so you can customise what your character looks like?

QUESTION 07: If you can customise your character will it be possible to make it so his/her overworld have mini version looking of character?

QUESTION 08: Will you forgive me for all load of dumb questions that you answered? If you answered them, lol!

Anyways, thanks if you can answer them for me, bye for now...

Now I know its cause I've got Vista, right? Nope. The usual trick, as I recall, is to run RMXP as an Admin in compatibility mode, and make sure that you have an internet connection, and stuff like that. Check around. It's a frequent topic of conversaiton.

QUESTION 02: So even if the first question asked above works, do I have to be connected to the Internet to use it? Because my Vista can't use the Internet only my brothers can because we got Dial-up and I don't have a modem.

Ah, I see. Your problem is indeed that you don't have an internet connection, so your trial version will not work.

I'd invest in a modem if I were you.

That said, once you've legally registered your copy, it will work without an internet connection.

QUESTION 03: If I can use it will I be able to make a introduction screen like on
Pokemon how professor talks to you where you can name your character and stuff?

Yes. I don't know Pokemon, being an old fogey, but you can certainly have an introduction screen, name your character, all that good stuff. (That's what "Character Name Input is for, after all.)

QUESTION 04: If that's possible can I make it so I can decide if I want to be a Girl or a Boy?

Yep. Honestly, this one is really simple, because that choice only affects the game if you design your game around it.

QUESTION 05: If the last 2 questions above are possible can I make it so you can name you character?

Yes, as I said above. This is a basic game function. I strongly recommend that you read the manual and study how the basic commands work, because this requires a single command-- Name Input Processing-- and so is something that you really shouldn't need to ask for help with.

QUESTION 06: If the last 3 questions are possible (This may be extremly hard or very highly likey that it will be imposible.), can I make it so you can customise what your character looks like?

Yes. The extent to which you can do this will really depend on your skill and how much effort you're willing to put into it, of course, but if you want to, for example, just select from a list of possible avatars, it's actually quite simple.

QUESTION 07: If you can customise your character will it be possible to make it so his/her overworld have mini version looking of character?

Yep. There's at least two different ways to do this, depending on how you answered the last question.

QUESTION 08: Will you forgive me for all load of dumb questions that you answered? If you answered them, lol!

Oh, just this once, I guess. If you promise to read the documentation, and play with all the commands so that you'll have an understanding of the most basic concepts of the maker.

But then, I didn't give very helpful answers. But if you don't have a working copy of RMXP, how much help will my answers be, really?

...OK, OK, I'll be a little more helpful.

The answer to # 3 kinda depends on what exactly you want it to be. Autorun event, Show Text, maybe Show Picture, Name Input Processing... the specifics will depend on what you want.

#4? A very basic one. Show Choices (Male, Female.) Set a variable or, heck, a switch depending on the answer. (If you don't know what a variable or a switch is, for God's sake go track down the board tutorials on these things. They are key concepts that you will need to master if you want to use RMXP effectively.)

#5: As I said, please, please, please read the manual and try to use the various commands in the game first. Because this is basic. Completely, totally basic. RTFM.

#6: The degree of difficulty will depend on what you want to do. If you want a hyper-detailed Gaia-avatar-maker Pick Your Hair, Eyes, Clothes, Skin, Everything option, you're looking at a huge, massively complicated system that will strain both your programming and pixel art abilities to the limit.

If you want to just pick from a dozen or half-dozen options, though, it's pretty darned simple. Just create a Cursor charset, make that the default graphic for the main character, and create Events that use the different graphics. When one is selected, have it use Change Actor Graphic to match the graphic chosen.

#7: There was a recent thread somewhere about this. Somebody has a script that should work with this, or you can create an overworld graphic on your own by resizing the normal charset.
