Alnetak Moon
Alcaria was once a world governed by just monarchs. Nations were solitary and confident, and there was no war. Eventually, however, this system was abolished by an uprising of the people, who had been conned into thinking that the monarchal dynasties were unjust. From the fallen dynasties a new governmental system arose. A 'republic' known as the World Kingdom rules over the major countries over the world, overseeing all the law and rule in Alcaria. The World Kingdom worked well for almost two hundred years, but as its original members began to die off, newer ones entered, ones wih intentions other than peace in Alcaria. Slowly, this 'republic' declines into a deceitful oligarchy, though the people of Alcaria see none of its corruption, blinded by past glories.

Before the World Kingdom was ever established, the last living clan of witches perished voluntarily to pass on their extended lifetimes to one man. One man, one shapeshifter who serves as a messenger in a prophecy. The prophecy told of a tower slowly falling to the ground endangering the entire world, and of one young hero, a boy who should be a prince. The destined prince destroys the tower in this prophecy, and from there takes the throne and restores justice to all of Alcaria as its king. The shapeshifting messenger defies the World Kingdom when the time comes, and is cast out into the world, namely the outlaw-inhabited island country known as Darkline. Unable to find or contact the destined prince, he enlists the aid of a young man named Ryen Zenglade, a local weaponsmith with a rare sense of justice and courage. Ryen finds himself facing perils beyond his wildest dreams as he ventures to another continent to find the chosen one, and tell him of his destiny...

This is in RMXP? The resolution's different.

The storyline reminds me of Merlin. Lol. One question; Why did the witches give their lives? I mean, how does that help the shapeshifter?

And how does the "Random items in chests" feature work? Random placement? Random items inside?

That is a pretty key plot point in the game. It's one of the mysteries of the story.

Every play through will have different chest placement with different items in it. This is thanks to Minkoff's Randomization Script v0.38.

So doorfingers gave me his demo in irc and i have a little review. :)

doorfingers, I'd just like to say you f'n rock.

Plot - As others have said, at first I thought the plot was just gonna be a dried up cliche not even worth my time. That lasted all of 4 minutes. You took an old idea, turned it on it's head, stuck a few meathooks in, and caught me by surprise. That's hard to do with me, and for that you deserve nothing less than a 9. I especially liked how Minnow wasn't just another cardboard cut-out thief. Made me rather happy

Gameplay - Maybe I'm not the best judge of this, but I thought the gameplay was awesome. You really duped me with yer illusion of a CBS. Definitely good work. I had a few issues with the game acquiring an entropy effect when I loaded, but I realized, that was my comp's fault. All I had to do was restart. Other than that gameplay was brilliant. I love the Mana Charm and weapon forging elements. Big bonuses for that.

Visual - This is perhaps the most visually stunning game I have ever seen made with Rm2k. At first I wanted to give this a 9 because of how easily the Mac and Blue and RTP were spotted, but, they were used so well I couldn't drop it.

Audio - This is, to me at least, one of the most integral parts of a game. If the music sucks, I don't care how great the game is, I'm not gonna wanna play it. I love the opening theme, and Horace's theme too. The reason I gave this an 8 was that damnable Zelda music. It didn't feel right for the atmosphere of the game. You should consider changing it for the full version.

Programming - I'm not a master programmer in any sense of the word. So I'm not the best judge of this. But from what I can tell a lot of hard work and effort went into the programming. And try as I might I couldn't find any glitches.

Overall - 9.00 - This game rocked my f'n socks off man. If the full version is as good as the demo I'm gonna need to know a place to send you cash, cause I wouldn't feel right playin it for free.
