Welcome to HBGames, a leading amateur game development forum and Discord server. All are welcome, and amongst our ranks you will find experts in their field from all aspects of video game design and development.

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm a man of wealth and taste

Except that I'm a grad student, so I donno about the wealth part.

It seems like a lot of game dev forums are all about "Hey, here's my iso app, lol!" without any real discussion or critique. I was impressed that people actually seemed to have a community here and I hope to contribute a lot to the forums (would people appreciate game dev talks or tutorials?).

About me: I love game design. I've used loads of tools in the past including RPG maker, game maker, html5, AGS, and unity. know a fair bit of programming languages, and like to draw when I get the chance.

Nice to meet you all.

Awesome Bro

Hi there, welcome to the forums!

Not much I can say really, so I'll leave you with a question, and we can make a discussion out of the answer...

What is the meaning of a cats life?

@Xilef I've deployed on web, Ipad, OSX, Windows and Android. Are you working on a project that you're interested in deploying soon? Edit: I'm assuming it's Battle World?

@Jason Good one. A cat's essence seems to power the internet, so I assume they're internet batteries.

So what you're saying, is that without cats, there would be no internet?

Well, cats did technically come before the internet, however, cats didn't become popular on the internet until a few years ago, therefore cats clearly aren't internet batteries...

UNLESS, the internet seeks out different memes to power itself every few years, like finding a new power source of some kind.

Technically then, that would mean, that the meaning of a cats life is literally to hold the power of humanity (Because we all have the internet) in its paws, but then a new meme comes along, rapes it and stabs it in the eye, and takes the torch...

Maybe it's better to say that without cats there wouldn't be a massive contribution of content (good and bad) to the internet as we know it now. There seems to be something powerful in using cats as a means of communication through a visual medium. Egyptian Hieroglyphs for example. Even if another meme kills it, and eats it's children, they'll be back when we share things via holograms.

I am not a fan of unity, I program my own engines, however on android I've had some graphical problems with my C GLES2 graphics engine that google shows happens a lot with unity on android, have you encountered issues with the platform?

I didn't get on well with Unity Brighton after they told me Unity isn't for me and asked me what's wrong with windows when I asked if a Linux client was in the works, and the engine itself is incredibly limiting and not a good platform if you are a programmer, Unity Brighton made that one clear to me too.

I actually haven't run into that problem on things I've deployed. That sucks about the response from unity, but I guess it's easier to say it's not for you than it is to edit the engine. I hear what you're saying about the limitations of the platform, I've also done some homebrew engines (Java and C++/C) and love the control you get from that. However, I've found that when working with artists and molders unity makes things easier because you don't have to write your own dog food for simple scripting etc.
