Story:
The year is 1965 in an unknown country.
After the abrupt death of David Garcia's mother a decade ago, the young boy had nothing left: no relatives and no friends. Luckily, he was quickly adopted by a rich couple and lived a life full of luxuries and peace.
However, for 11 years, the only thing in David's mind was his defunct mother and their lonely past together. One morning, during his monthly visit to the graveyard where his mom rests, David meets an unknown woman who tells him what he was waiting to hear for many years:
"David Garcia, do you want to meet your grandmother? Do you want to meet Remedios Garcia?"
Fueled by the desire to know more about his family's past, David trusts the woman's words and travels to the town where his grandmother resides, Agapan. During four days, David ventures into the deep fog of the village with one clear goal in mind: finding his grandmother. However, the ominous fog of Agapan hides many secrets waiting to be discovered...
Characters:
David Garcia
The protagonist of the story. David is an ordinary young man in his early 20s living a comfortable and relaxing life. However, the mysteries of his lonely past have kept him curious for many years. After finding out her grandmother is living in the far away town of Agapan, the young man doesn't hesitate to travel there. He has an impulsive, naive, and introverted nature.
Lucia
This character is the first person David meets upon arriving to Agapan. She treats David well and offers him a place to stay and support in finding the person he's looking for. However, she clearly warns him strangers are not welcome in the town. Lucia's kindness toward David is unnatural and suspicious, but David is naive and doesn't think twice when trusting a kind stranger.
Julieta
The youngest of the three teachers in Agapan. She's a reserved and smart young girl with a very open mindset. Her juvenile and modern view of the world is incompatible with the madness surrounding Agapan's education and religious system. The boy Carlos is her closest ally, friend, and the only person she can trust in all of Agapan.
Ana
A classmate of Carlos and a very special girl in Agapan. Ana is getting ready for a special ceremony that will take place four days after the arrival of David to Agapan.
Suzana
The mother of Julieta and one of the three teachers in Agapan. She's a kind and sincere woman that takes her work very seriously. Her sense of responsibility and religious belief is as extreme as that of any other villager. However, David reminds her of the past; a past that allowed other ways of thinking to coexist.
Carlos
An ordinary village boy living an unhappy life in Agapan. Carlos is extremely shy and cautious with everybody he talks to, making him the anti-social kid from his class. Julieta has showed him the wonders of the outside world and is obsessed with the idea of one day escaping from Agapan forever.
Hermit
This man is known in the narrative as the Hermit. This middle aged man lives a solitary life near the lake of Agapan. Silence and mystery are his biggest traits. The reason why this man chooses solitude and silence lie in his sad and conflicting past.
Marisa
This is Marisa, another villager from Agapan. Together with her sister Claudia, the two girls run the only store of the town. Her mind, personality, and gaze are already of an adult even though she is only 14.
Claudia
This is Claudia, Marisa's younger sister. Claudia lives together with her sister in Agapan's only shop. Claudia appears to be an ordinary, lively girl, however, her friendly personality hides many mysteries. Just as her sister, Claudia is smarter than most girls her age and understands perfectly what the town is going through.
Governor
This man is living in Agapan with a noble, yet sickly goal. His good nature and kind personality is beginning to get engulfed by his obsession for becoming the next governor of Agapan.
Enrique
This man was witness to the changes Agapan went through decades ago. This priest finds solace and peace in the church, the only place he deems safe and "sane". Forgotten by all the villagers, Enrique lives a simple life where there is no hope left.
There are many other characters David will encounter in Agapan. Interacting with them is the key to finding his grandmother and unveiling all of the town's secrets.
