Actor one won't change with commands! What do I do?

Okay, I'm working on a project, and u can choose between 3 classes to start out, and I want the first actor ( starting with no class or skills) to change when they choose which class. For example, you pick a sage, I change his stats a bit, change his class to sage, and change the actor graphic to what I want.  But, When I do these commands, it doesnt work, He doesnt gain any classes or change graphics, and when i try to force a new skill it doesnt work either.  The commands I use are

Change Actor Class: [Hero], [Sage]
Change Skills: [hero], +[Frost]
Change Actor Graphic: [Hero], sage,0,, 0


So, what is the problem here? any help would be appreciated

I tried it and it worked fine for me, but i had the character have a starting praphic, class, and skills. I wonder though...could it be something as simple as that your telling the game to change those things, but there's nothing there to change in the first place, so it kinda cancels itself out.

Give your character a starting class, skills, and graphic. And then, when the player chooses, they can keep the default or change the class, skills, etc. That should work.

I figured it out, it wasn't that. I feel kinda dumb now, there where 2 characters with the same name and graphic etc, so the game started out with the wrong one and it was changing a character that wasn't there. *sigh* Sometimes the most simple of things are overlooked

Oh, I have a question, how many switches are you allowed to have in one game? I have a feeling I'll be needing quite a few permanent switches.

At least 999, I believe.  There's a "Change Maximum" option in Control Switches...

You are allowed to have 5000 switches and 5000 variables. I don't think you will be short of them.
