A few MIDIs made in Anvil Studio.

This includes a few of my oldies like Innocence and The Evil Hero.  My newest ones are Redemption, Innocence (Fast Version), and Servant of Darkness.
I'd appreciate some honest C&C on all of these, but the main focus here is Servant of Darkness, which you'll notice I've divided into two parts as well as the full version.  It used to be just part one, but today I tried adding a bit more to it to make it less repetitive, and the result was a drastic change, so now I'm debating whether I should stick with part one, or work off of part 2, or keep it as it is.

Thanks for looking.  And if you like my music enough, feel free to use it in non commercial games as long as you credit me.

Ok, im gonna be honest:

I stopped like 0:36 into Servant of Darkeness. It was too repetitive and screechy to the point where I couldnt grasp an interest in it. It sounded like you were ephasising the bass way too much! It made me bored with it, I was like "..oh, the beats are coming ...now! No, wait....now! Ok, ok...now?" to the point where it got too annoying. Try taking out any percussion and make the bass a low brass sound and make the counter melody something chippy and staccato, like a piano or mallet percussion. Try to make it sound dark without making it sound like a rock-hair band.

The Evil hero was the better of the two, and I thought the melody was somewhat catchy. A main consistent problem was the low tom's rhythm in the begining, it was off by a beat or two. The theme leading up to the melody was a little sour imo, but good. The tension leading up could have been bigger but the main melody was entered quite well. A good start on this one!

Overall, these two can become good if you go back and work on them. Im not really a midi man, but thats just me.

Also there sure have been alot of musicians popping up lately! This is great for the community :3

Thanks.
I see what you mean about Servant of Darkness. The intro kind of drags on now that you mention it.  Anyways, you stopped pretty early in it, and it changes quite a bit later on, so if you don't mind, please try listening through the whole song.

Sure thing! Ill listen right now.

On Redemption...try not to have the organ just playing the same four notes over and over in the same pattern because there is a couple spots where it doesn't meld with the rest of the song and dissonance arises.  Dissonance can sound cool sometimes...but not on this song.

Thanks for the criticism guys.
Here's an update to Servant of Darkness.  I just cut a chunk out of the beginning so it doesn't drag on so much, and I reduced the volume of the distortion guitar.  That's all I have time to do right now, as I have an 8 page essay due tomorrow.

Honestly, they weren't bad. The problem is, it is really hard to make good songs like the ones (that seem to me) that you seem to be going for. Anvil, is more for the traditional, more classical type. But, one general thing that I think you should work on (no matter what system your using) is repetition. It seems that you try to use the same sounds for too long. Granted, a lot of song making is using the same sounds at a different pace/pitch/tone (Therefore possibly changing it entirely). But, overall, not bad.

I agree alot of with what fikan said, and it sounds better! I like how its a little toned down, and now the melody is a little catchier. Good job!
